“I understand citizens’ concerns, but we are working intensely on the bradyseism phenomenon and we must continue with the ongoing activities to ensure safety.” These are the words of the mayor of Pozzuoli, Luigi Manzoni, regarding the poor participation in the seismic simulation organized by the Civil Protection. Only nine citizens showed up at the stand set up on the seafront, despite around 200 reservations registered.
Only four of those booked actually arrived, who were later joined by five other citizens without reservations but who decided to participate spontaneously. Meanwhile, behind them, hundreds of people were busy on the seafront.
“Everything that needed to be done – underlined Manzoni – we are doing without delay. I don’t feel like condemning those who didn’t come, I just want to understand the reasons and work on the critical issues. We are carrying out the exercises while we are experiencing a state of emergency, and this may have affected participation. The communication has been made, now we must analyze the reasons for this low turnout.”
