There were over 800 participants Regional meeting of the Catechistsorganized on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd June Caltanissetta by the Regional Office for Catechesis from the CEYes (Sicilian Episcopal Conference).
The appointment was an integral part of conference Of catechesiswhich took place on the same days as Gathering. The event, entitled “Listening, communication and languages: evangelizing in the Sicilian context”, saw, on the first day, initially a moment of sharing and discussion with the priests of the different dioceses of the island and, then, the in-depth and reflection with catechetical teams from the Sicilian dioceses.
On Saturday 22nd, instead, the big one was held Gathering with catechists from the 18 dioceses of Sicily, gathered to share experiences and renew their commitment to the mission of evangelization. During the Gathering, those who deal with Catechesis in Sicily they had the opportunity to take part in thematic workshops, conferences and moments of prayer and reflection. The interventions of the speakers, among whom prominent names on the national scene stood out, offered valuable ideas for addressing the current challenges of transmitting the faith. They were present Dr. Andrea Monda (Director of “L’Osservatore Romano”), Monsignor Valentino Bulgarelli (Office Director National Catechistic from the CEI) and the Prof. Marco Tibaldi (trainer, UCN consultant and Director of the Institute of Religious Sciences of Bologna), who debated on “Artificial intelligence and digital witnesses. Between contents and testimony”.
They also took part in the demonstration Monsignor Antonino Raspanti, Bishop Of Acireale and President of CEYes, Monsignor Mario RussottoBishop of CaltanissettaAnd Msgr. Rosario GisanaBishop of Piazza Armerina and delegate for the Catechesiswho thus addressed the catechistsunderlining the importance they have as witnesses and announcers of the Gospel, in their communities: “Today we reflected on communication and learning new languages of life, in the context of the Christian faith. The Holy Spirit is the guide and author of our history, even in moments of difficult communicative understanding. The existence of each person is a living prophecy and a message of salvation, through personal and community experience. Jesus, who spoke the language of his time and conveyed messages of faith, invites us to do the same. Our life must be a testimony of faith, capable of speaking to people’s hearts.”
At the end of the day of celebration Don Carmelo Sciutofrom the Diocese Of Acireale And Director of theOffice Catechistico Regionale, extended heartfelt thanks to all those who contributed to the success of this event, to the speakers and to the catechists participants, underlining their passion and dedication. “Return with enthusiasm to your dioceses – said Don Sciuto -.
