The president of Emilia-Romagna, Stefano Bonaccinielected to the European elections with Democratic partyhe announced toRegional Legislative Assembly who in two weeks will resign from the position he has held since 2014. “They have been ten complicated years,” he said, recalling the reconstruction from the earthquake, the pandemic and the flood. “Yet it has been ten years that has seen this Region stronger than before“.

“I will resign one minute after” the G7 for science and technology in Bologna “out of respect for this international event which honors Bologna and Emilia-Romagna“, he said speaking before the Legislative Assembly. “And in these two weeks, as announced, we will close all the documents that will ensure all the measures, financing and rules are in place for the next few months of weakening of powers so that there are no gaps and slowdowns”.

And as the governor’s resignation approaches, iThe center-right accelerates its electoral campaign in Emilia-Romagna. Next week there will be a meeting between the regional leaders of Fratelli d’Italia, Forza Italia and Lega, then it will be the turn of the national level.
For now, according to what filters through the councilors of the Legislative Assembly, the orientation seems to be to focus on a civic figure. It was already being talked about before the European elections and the vote on 8 and 9 June seems to have strengthened the conviction of a large part of the regional opposition.
A civic, is the opinion that makes its way among the ranks of the centre-right, could try to mend at least part of a disadvantage that today seems clear: among the ranks of Forza Italia for example what has not escaped notice is that the wide field of the centre-left, two weeks ago, it collected around 15 percentage points more than the centre-right, as well as having increased the absolute votes despite the drop in turnout. Furthermore, a possible defeat would be more ‘digestible’ for a citizen than for a politician.
