Tomorrow in Ragusa Ibla, on the occasion of the XXXII Siea Conference “Knowledge and information for an innovative and sustainable agri-food system”, in the main hall of the University Consortium of the Province of Ragusa in the former military district (in the photo), the ° meeting on District policies: tools and strategies for enhancing the territoryan important moment of discussion with experts from the scientific world, the food and wine and tourism sectors and local actors to highlight the role of the districts in territorial governance.






It will be the first of 3 meetings promoted by the Chamber of Commerce of South East Sicily, the Network District of Sicily’s supply chains and territories and the Città dell’olio association with the aim of involving and aggregating operators in the agri-food and tourism sector of the cities of Ragusa, Syracuse and Catania and promote and enhance district policies.



Three meetings to analyze the opportunity to create a well-structured governance tool suitable for the development of an integrated, innovative tourism system in line with market trends, capable of combining food, art, culture and tourism; aimed at making the visitor perceive eastern Sicily as a quality food and wine destination and above all promoting and stimulating the creation of new collaborations between companies and bodies aimed at promoting local development also in consideration of the important event for next year which involves Sicily as European Region of Gastronomy 2025.

After the initial greetings from President Siea, prof. Gino Pecorino, the mayor of Ragusa Giuseppe Cassi, the commissioner of the Chamber of Commerce Antonino Belcuore, the president of the District of the Supply Chains and Territories of Sicily in the network, Angelo Barone, and the regional coordinator of the Città dell’Olio association Giosuè Catania will follow the reports of the prof. Piermichele La Sala, coordinator of the scientific committee of the National Council of food districts, on the role of food districts in territorial governance and prof. Claudio Gambino, president of Dmo Central Sicily, on the experiences of Dmos in Sicily. Followed by a debate moderated by Lucia Briamonte, researcher at Crea Politiche and Bioeconomy

To encourage greater participation and aggregation, the District of the Supply Chains and Territories of Sicily on the Net has recently published a public notice to join the district aimed at operators in the agri-food sector and in the promotion of the territory who wish to share the objectives and participate in direct activities to the valorisation and promotion of agri-food and territorial excellence implemented by the Supply Chain District and the Sicilian territories online.
