Acrobatic dance, contortionism, contemporary dance, physical theatre. A contamination between disciplines which is the distinctive mark of the multifaceted artist Marina Cherrya touching research many art forms to investigate the human psyche, the abysses into which it can sink and its potential openings to the world. Loneliness, alienation, isolation – in the wake of the Japanese phenomenon hikikomori – are explored by performer in his “work in progress” AVoidwhich Cherry will bring in artistic residency in Arvier.
The project, promoted by Instabile Theater of Aostain collaboration with the Municipality of Arvieris part of Circusnext, a European residency network project that deals with the development of contemporary circus with particular attention to new talents. An international reality made up of 24 members from 15 different European nations and of which the Teatro Instabile di Aosta is part.
During the residency, the artist will work on his work in the multipurpose hall of the Alta Valle village from 1 to 7 July 2024. A “site outing” is also scheduled to take place this week Friday 5 July at 7pm: it will be an opening to the public that will provide everyone with the opportunity to attend the representation of the state of the art of AVoid and admire the bewitching performance. Entrance is free.
The artistic residency will also offer the little ones the opportunity to test themselves with circus art, thanks to the circus workshop held by Marina Cherry herself Tuesday 2 and Saturday 6 July from 5pm to 6.30pm, again in the multipurpose hall of Arvier, and dedicated to boys and girls aged 5 to 11. The workshops are also free.
