It starts tomorrow, Thursday 27 June to Castellammare del Golfo the first edition of Tastes of Sicily, the event which, until Sunday 30th, will tell the story of Sicily in all its facets including tastings, shows and cultural meetings.

The event, which starts from the recognition obtained by Sicily as the European Region of Gastronomy for 2025, is organized by Municipality of Castellammare del Golfoin collaboration with the Feedback agency and with support of the Tourism Department of the Sicilian Region, Banca Don Rizzo, Conad and Tenute Orestiadi.

«This year we have focused on quality events such as Gustorie di Sicilia, four days to promote and enhance the typical features of Castellammare del Golfo between tastings, music and culture – says the mayor Giuseppe Fausto –. By alternating activities in three city squares, we promote a project in the wake of local culture and tradition – for which we make use of a company with proven experience such as Feedback – since we aim to make it a fixed annual event, linking the territory to its roots historical and cultural. We invite you to Castellammare to participate in the various activities scheduled from 27 to 30 June”.

Sicily will be celebrated in all its facets: from history to cuisine, from art to literature, told by Giusi Battagliaface of Giusina in the kitchen on Food Network and by the journalist Stefania Renda.

«Gustorie di Sicilia is a gastronomic and cultural event that aims to raise awareness of the typical products and traditions of our city so as to make our territory increasingly attractive – points out Mariella Caleca, municipal councilor for tourism and entertainment -. The initiative includes four days full of activities and tastings, truly for all tastes, created in collaboration with local associations and businesses. By making “Gustorie di Sicilia” an annual event, we intend to foresee a moment of cultural and economic growth for our city, creating interest and attraction with more moments in the historic center between tastings, culture, music and shows, so as to convey the Castellammare del Golfo brand . Every day tastings of street food, Sicilian first courses and desserts

Many specialties of Sicilian gastronomy will be available for tasting every day in Piazza Petrolo and Piazza Madrice. From 6pm until midnight it is possible to taste a selection of first Sicilians in Piazza Petrolo. You can choose between local couscous with fish, “ncaciato” cannellone and baked anelletti timbale. The street food is the protagonist in Piazza Madrice which offers on the menu the arancinette with squid ink, panelle, crocché or the fish burger, the sandwich with swordfish porchetta. It closes in sweetness in Piazza Petrolo, choosing between cannolo, sfince and cassatelle with ricotta. The tastings are organized by the Mirko’s restaurant and the Bonventre bar in Castellammare del Golfo. Tickets of 10 and 5 euros combined with a glass of wine.

Ristogustorie: menu competition between local restaurants

Sicilian specialties in local restaurants participating in “Ristogustorie”, the initiative created in collaboration with Conad which celebrates the authenticity and passion of traditional Sicilian cuisine. In participating restaurants (Nescy Bistrot & Street food, Grani da re Pizzeria and restaurant, the Al Burgo and Rosmarina restaurants, Red Pepper Sicilian Steakhouse and Coccio Cucina territorial) for the entire duration of the event, you will be able to taste ad hoc menus using products from the company Flavors & Dintorni Conad line which will be dedicated to the gastronomic tradition of western Sicily. After tasting them, it will be possible to vote on the menus with your mobile phone. The two restaurants that have received the highest scores will compete in the kitchen on Sunday 30 June on the stage in Piazza Petrolo to win the title.

Tomorrow’s program, Thursday 27 June

Tomorrow we start at 6.30 pm on the stage in Piazza Petrolo, with an institutional welcome in the presence, among others, of the mayor and the tourism councilor of Castellammare, Giuseppe Fausto and Mariella Caleca. At 7 pm Matryoshkas in trio they perform in Piazza Madrice, while at 7.30pm in Piazza Castello Giusi Battaglia interviews Stefania Auciauthor of the Florio saga books, one of the greatest publishing phenomena of recent years, and Paolo Briguglia who played Ignazio Florio in the series “The Lions of Sicily”, based on Auci’s novels. At 9pm the chef Marcellus Valentino will prepare a sweet and sour mackerel recipe with Sapori&Dintorni Conad products. It closes at 10.30pm again in Piazza Petrolo, with the singer-songwriter’s free concert Alessio Alessandra.

The program for Friday 28 June

At 5pm in Piazza Petrolo the appointment with “EduFood Inclusion”, a training and educational workshop on correct and healthy lifestyles promoted by the Asp of Trapani and the Ministry of Health dedicated to young migrants. At 6 pm in Piazza Castello the journalist Stefania Renda interviews Antonio Pandolfo, Marco Manera, Stefano Piazza and the 4 Tasteswhile at 6.30 pm in Piazza Petrolo the event dedicated to blue tourism, fishing tourism and seaside villages in the presence, among others, of Alberto Pulizzi, general manager of the regional Department of Mediterranean Fisheries and Francesca Biondo, director of Federpesca .

At 7pm in Piazza Madrice the story teller showthe Rimi Brotherswhile at 9 pm in Piazza Petrolo “The Florios and the history of the tuna fishery” with Daniela Brignoneart historian and author of the book “I Luoghi dei Florio”, Chico Paladino Florio And Rosaria Maria Asarodaughter of the rais of Castellammare del Golfo which will end with a cooking show of Francesco Bonomo. At 9pm in Piazza Madrice the Sicilian Duowhile at 10.30pm in Piazza Petrolo the cabaret show will take place with Antonio Pandolfo, The 4 Tastes, Marco Manera, Giovanni Cangialosi, Stefano Piazza, Marcello Mandreucci.

The program for Saturday 29th June

It starts at 6pm in Piazza Castello where Stefania Renda interviews Roy Paci, Francesco Lauricella, which presents “Mizzica! Sicilian gastronomic dictionary” e Giacomo Moceri, which presents “Amunì. Let’s go If you don’t know how to say it, say it in Sicilian”, both Giunti editore. At 6.30 pm in Piazza Petrolo the appointment entitled “The grains of Sicily and the emporium of Segesta” with Dario Cartabellotta, general manager of the regional agriculture department, Luigi Biondo, director of the archaeological park of Segesta and Maria Elena Cusenza, CoopCulture manager.

The meeting will end with a cooking show by Francesco Piparo. The writer Giuseppina Torregrossa at 7.30 pm in Piazza Castello he will present his latest book “Velvet Boots” (Rizzoli) which tells of a young inspector dealing with a brutal murder that took place at the Palermo post office in 1977. The meeting ends with a wine tasting Orestiadi estates. In Piazza Castello at 9pm “Is Sicilian cuisine female? Arancina, arancino, spitino and the Sicilian gastronomic dictionary” with Andrea Lo Cicero, Davide Fecarotta and Francesco Lauricella.

It ends at 10.30pm in Piazza Petrolo with the free concert by Roy Paci & Aretuska.

The program for Sunday 30 June

The Sicilian puppet show “The great duel between Count Orlando and Emperor Agricane for the love of the beautiful Angelica” by Salvatore Oliveri opens the program on Sunday, at 6 pm in Piazza Castello. We continue in Piazza Petrolo with the challenge between the two finalist restaurants RistoGustorie, the competition promoted by Conad which rewards the best interpreters of Sicilian cuisine. At 7.30 pm Stefania Renda interview Lello Analfino and Salvo Piparo which presents the book “400Anni-Il Festino di Santa Rosalia tra tradition, devotion and futuro” (Dario Flaccovio editore) in Piazza Castello while at the same time the Rimi Brothers perform in Piazza Madrice.

The chef Peppe Giuffrè on the stage in Piazza Petrolo at 8.30 pm he will prepare the maccarruna di Casteddammari, a timbale of macaroni dressed as a Sicilian cassata. Grand finale at 9.30pm in Piazza Petrolo with Giusi Battaglia, Lello Analfino and Salvo Piparo.
