MASSA-CARRARA – Ordinary maintenance work has now started almost everywhere along rivers, ditches and canals under the responsibility of the Northern Tuscany Reclamation Consortium in the provinces of Lucca, Massa-Carrara, Pisa and Pistoia, in line with the provisions of the Municipality Plan. 2024 reclamation activities and the various projects developed by the offices which include both direct interventions by the consortium body and assignments to agricultural entrepreneurs, agricultural and forestry cooperatives, social cooperatives and private companies operating in the area.
“The interventions include gentle maintenance works to guarantee the correct flow of the waterways and protect the biodiversity present, as well as reprofiling and cleaning of the riverbeds – underlines the president Ismaele Ridolfi -. This is the first batch of works, in spring, which will be followed by others calibrated for each watercourse up until the autumn one, for a total intervention of around 15 million euros financed through the reclamation contribution. The sums take into account the realities that operate in the area. Many works will also be carried out by the Consortium directly, with its own means and workers who know well all the realities and territories in which they work and represent a guarantee for careful and delicate maintenance, down to the smallest details, to improve the flow of water but always with the utmost respect for the environment”.
