GORLA MINOR – «We got to work immediately, because there is a lot of work ahead of us.” This is how he begins, after having been sworn in as mayor, Fabiana Ermoni, first woman to wear the tricolor sash in Gorla Minore. But with the opposition there is immediate controversy. The defeated candidate Fabio Lorvetti expresses «disappointment at personal attacks during the electoral campaign” and claims “the important legacy left by a virtuous administration, before others take the credit”. And Ermoni replies: «I expected a more constructive intervention. These tones have bored the citizens.”
The settlement
«The great collaboration, the enthusiasm and team spirit that animated our group it represented an added value that I could count on and I will do everything possible to ensure that it does not fail in the coming years – Fabiana Ermoni’s inauguration speech – I will be the mayor of everyone, and with my team we will continue to listen and discuss with the people of Gorle, because our commitment is sincere and we will maintain it with intellectual honesty. With the opposition I hope a constructive, correct and fair discussion, the associations will be a privileged interlocutor, to be valued because they are the social network that keeps the country alive». In illustrating the programmatic mandate lines – «a forward-looking program» which has «a vision that goes beyond five years» – Ermoni also marked the distances compared to the previous administration. For example on urban planning, where «a more careful, more aware and less impactful designwhich dialogues harmoniously with the context and which contrasts land consumption by giving space to urban regeneration” compared to “repeated and questionable choices of these years”.
The council and the delegated councilors
Mayor Ermoni presented the new council, made up of Laura Bonfanti deputy mayor and delegate for urban planning, private construction and commerce; Sergio Caldiroli Councillor for sport, relations with associations, civil protection and productive activities; Stefania Rossetti budget and finance councilor; Graziano Ferioli external councilor for ecology and environment. And he announced the roles, even important oneswhich will have the delegated city councilors: Katia Dell’Aquila to youth policies; Graziano Cortesi maintenance and landscaping; Daniela Manca to the family, the elderly and disabilities; Adron Syku to public works; Rossano Belloni (who is also the majority group leader) to education, roads, safety and territorial planning.
Opposition to the attack
Sparks immediately flew from the opposition, with Fabio Lorvetti (in the photo) starting with a «note of disappointment» compared to an electoral campaign in which recourse was made to «tools such as denigrating speeches, personal attacks, memes and summary judgments on social media. They have a short-term effect but are not the foundation of serious work.” He asks the majority for “loyalty, transparency and correctness” and promises “an attentive and scrupulous opposition, collaborative and proud of a past of important results, which have been hidden or discredited during this period.” So much so that, the defeated mayoral candidate points out, «no administration close to us has received such an important legacy“, between “a budget in order, with a free surplus of 3.2 million euros for investments, and a program of works started or allocated”, of which he makes a long list, claiming a work like via Durini already “corrected” by the new incoming administration. And Lorvetti reminds us that «what will be done in the coming years will above all be possible thanks to the virtuous administration of those who have operated over the last twenty yearsto prevent the new administrators from taking credit from others.”
Back and forth
«I don’t find myself in the recriminations about the electoral campaign – the response of the new mayor Ermoni – until the end we tried to be positive and proactive, letting many things slide.” And he says to Lorvetti: «I expected a different, more constructive intervention. Anyway the choices of interventions in the territory are up to the new administration. If you are open to collaboration, even better: we will be too.”
