The first Think Tank on Innovation and Tourism in Taranto

The first Think Tank entitled Taranto Smart Experience Destination – New scenarios of tourism innovation: artificial intelligence and DMO 4.0, intended for experts in the tourism and technological sector to increase and innovate the world of tourism, exploiting and mastering the new opportunities that technology offers us.

The initiative, organized and promoted by the start-up Asymmetrica and E-Utopia, will be hosted by the Salina Hotel at the Sala Roof Garden, in via Mediterraneo 1. The first Think Tank meeting on tourism and innovation is sponsored by the Puglia Region, Regional Department of Tourism, Confcommercio and Confindustria Taranto.
The numbers

Taranto is a city rich in history, with a vast artistic-cultural heritage that has its roots in Magna Graecia. Despite the cruise record and despite the fact that, between 2022 and 2023, the city counted 308,000 arrivals and 1,290,000 presences, it has not yet managed to enter the top 15 of the most popular Apulian destinations.

How, then, can we relaunch the city on a tourist level, enhancing its material and immaterial heritage, and exploiting the spread of artificial intelligence to our advantage?

From this perspective, DMO 4.0, i.e. the organizations that deal with promoting a tourist destination, attracting visitors, managing the community’s reputation and creating and implementing new marketing strategies, are of fundamental importance. However, thanks to artificial intelligence, new scenarios are opening up and DMOs can thus monitor market trends in real time, analyze tourist behavior, personalize offers based on their needs and maximize the return on investments.
