The Courtyard Stories Festival returns to Varese, the traveling event that stops in various cities to bring music and stories between courts and courtyards. There are two events in the city: the first is on Friday 28 June at 9.00 pm in the courtyard of the Masnago Castle, with the concert of the group Musica da ripostiglio. The second concert is in Canonica squareWednesday 3 July at 9.00 pm, with the eclectic American singer-songwriter Eileen Rose and her band.
“The Storie di Cortile Festival returns to Varese for the second time – explains the Councilor for Culture Enzo Laforgia – which brings music to places that represent an extraordinary heritage of our territory, with the aim of enhancing and promoting spaces that have always played a cultural and social role”.
The festival was born in 2016 from an idea of the singer-songwriter Andrea Parodi, with the aim of telling and enhancing courtyards, courtyards, farmhouses, railing houses and parks of ancient villas in various cities and centers of the region, with incursions also outside. For the second time the festival stops in Varese: after last year’s success, with Bob Dylan’s violinist, Scarlet Rivera, this year there are two events in the city.
So let’s start June 28th at 9.00 pm at the Castello di Masnago with the group Musica da Ripostiglio, a Tuscan band with a curious name, chosen because “Chamber Music” seemed excessive to them. There are four of them and they put on a show, entertaining the audience with a repertoire halfway between the light-hearted and the busy, between the unpublished and the quoted. A group born from the twenty-year artistic partnership between the singer-songwriter Luca Pirozzi and the guitarist Luca Giacomelli, who were joined by Raffaele Toninelli on double bass and Emanuele Pellegrini on drums and percussion. A singular musical proposal that ranges between original songs and Italian classics, in a typically retro atmosphere, in which the swing of the early 1900s is tinged with gypsy influences, with careful work on original and irreverent lyrics. In case of bad weather the event will be in the fireplace room inside the castle.
The July 3rd at 9.00 pm in Piazza Canonica the appointment is with The queen of Nashville Eileen Rose band. Eileen Rose is an eclectic artist, originally from Boston, but it is the city of Nashville that has most influenced her musicality. In recent years Eileen Rose has been able to expertly mix rock, pop, blues, folk, gospel, rockabilly and country to arrive at a very personal sound characterized by her powerful voice. She was hailed by critics as the new Patti Smith and shared the stage with the likes of Glen Matlock of the Sex Pistols, Ryan Adams, she dated Ozzy Osbourne while the writer Nick Hornby mentions several of her songs in a novel by her . Since 2009 she has performed in an artistic and personal partnership with Rich Gilbert, legend of the Boston music scene. In case of bad weather the performance will be held in the Montanari room, in via dei Bersaglieri.
