The Municipality has allocated 15 thousand euros for the activation of the 2024 climatic stay for the elderly. The project proposal sees the signature of the councilor for Social Services, Antonio Pisanelli, and was approved with a specific council resolution, with the approval of the director of the Financial Services sector, Gabriele Falco.
History
For over thirty years the municipal administration of Brindisi has organized stays for senior citizens in climatic and spa resorts located throughout the national territory. Then, due to the health emergency dictated by Covid, they were suspended in 2020 and 2021. It is a social service that offers the possibility of spending some periods in locations suitable for climatic and thermal treatments. In addition to the purpose of maintaining and re-establishing the state of psychophysical health, climatic stays offer opportunities for recreation and social relationships. The service is on individual request, the cost of which is guaranteed by the revenue through the ticket that participants will have to pay.
When and where
The administration deems it appropriate for the climatic stay to be carried out in one shift in the period between 7 and 30 September 2024. The possible locations are Salsomaggiore Terme, Fiuggi, Montecatini Terme and Rimini. «They will be chosen based on the lowest estimate provided by the agencies», we read in the document produced by the executive. For the realization of this initiative, the administration has provided a sum of 15 thousand euros, “as a contribution to support the project”. «Those interested – we read in the resolution – will have to pay the fee directly to the agency identified for the organization, which will have to guarantee the same cost even to those who will not be able to use the service organized by the Municipality». This is to also give the elderly who are unable to enter the list the opportunity to make their stay on their own, as the trip represents an opportunity for aggregation and leisure with others.
The coverage
“Those who will participate independently and directly with the agency, do not occupy the costs foreseen by the administration – it is explained in the minutes – the ticket covers seven days of complete stay, including transportation and insurance costs”. From Palazzo di Città they intend to “propose a stay that is not sterile, but a comfortable stay, in which initiatives of a social recreational-cultural nature are included, which the same agencies participating in the tender will have to propose at the tender stage”.
The tender
Therefore, the Municipality proposes to entrust the realization of the stay, by means of a specific tender or market research, to be carried out among travel and tourism agencies, in compliance with the current regulations on procurement, according to the methods and the conditions reported in the specifications and according to the public notice that will be drawn up by the competent area.
