The new councilor for culture (and deputy mayor) Vincenzo Bongiorno inaugurates his mandate with the presentation of “Forlì Grande Musica”, for the “Emilia Romagna Festival” which dedicates its 24th edition to the theme “Classic is contemporary”.
The season opens on 3 July, in San Mercuriale (at 9pm) with the “Vespro della Beata Vergine” by Claudio Monteverdi performed by the Venice Monteverdi Academy, with the Lorenzo Da Ponte Orchestra and the Schola Gregoriana Reale Corte Armonica Caterina Cornaro Choir of Asolo directed by Ernest Hoetzl. The conclusion is instead at the Trinity church on September 4th, with the Aïghetta Quartett and its “From Classical to World Music”. “Erf” does not give up the concert in Tredozio on August 1st: the Trio di La Toscanini Next (the orchestra performs in Forlì on July 31st in “Musical and surroundings”), is in via XX Settembre, in front of Palazzo Fantini now unusable, «a hope for the restart of a town hit first by the flood and then by the earthquake» underlines Mercelli who is echoed by mayor Zattini. On September 2nd in the church of Sant’Antonio Abate in Ravaldino, Giulio Mercati plays Alessio Verati’s organ, in a project that “Erf” has been carrying out for some time on the valorization of this instrument, while collaborations with the Chinese Ministry of Culture continue (on 27 July at the Diego Fabbri theatre, the China Symphony Orchestra of Ningbo performs), and with the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition: on 9 August at the Rocca di Ravaldino, there are the Aruna Quartet, and on 26 August in Santa Lucia, the Poiesis Quartet. Another important event, on 6 July at the Rocca di Caterina, the melody “Enoch Arden” will be performed, a text by Alfred Tennyson with music by Richard Strauss, performed by Vanessa Gravina accompanied on the piano by Stefano Giavazzi.
