Double appointment, over the weekend, to celebrate the eightieth anniversary of the Liberation of Potenza Picena from Nazi-fascism. For this reason, on Saturday a photographic exhibition will be inaugurated focusing on the 4th Polish Skorpion Battalion, while on Sunday there will be four stops in the historic center to remember the civilian victims. This is what the local ANPI section “Scipioni e Cutini” has organized, with the patronage of the Municipality and the collaboration of the association “Amici della Musica”.

“All this will also serve to commemorate the martyrdom of the eight civilians who fell on that very afternoon, which was supposed to be a celebration and instead ended in mourning and pain, further confirming the blind German barbarism – says the president of the Potenza ANPI, Luca Manzi (in the photo) -. Sunday’s program will be held in various points of the historic center. Furthermore, on Saturday afternoon (at 6 pm) the photographic exhibition curated by Enzo Romagnoli will be inaugurated on the 4th Polish Skorpion battalion which liberated Potenza Picena. inside the multipurpose room of the municipal delegation of Porto Potenza. The exhibition will remain open to visitors the following day, from 6pm to 11pm.

As for Sunday, there will be four events scheduled within the walls of Potenza Picena. It will begin in Piazza Matteotti, at 11am, with the reading of an original text which recalls the events that occurred on 30 June 1944 and will be followed by the laying of a laurel wreath. Then at 11.30, at Porta Galiziano, here is the inauguration of the plaque in memory of the 4th Polish Skorpion Regiment.

It will continue at 6.30 pm, in the church of the Collegiate Church of Santo Stefano, with the mass in memory of the eight civilian victims. The grand finale at 9.15pm, in the “Friends of Music” room, with a concert by the Polish pianist Wojciech Swietonski, with free admission.
