It will be a summer of construction in the city. From the center to the suburbs, starting from the squares. Today, in conjunction with those in Piazza Cambiaghi, the construction sites for the extraordinary maintenance of the square and Via d’Annunzio in the San Rocco district are starting, and the redevelopment works will soon also begin in Piazza Bonatti, in the San Donato district.
Via and Piazza D’Annunzio in San Rocco will see works ranging from the complete cleaning of public spaces, to the addition of new greenery and replacement of the bollards and street furniture elements currently present.
The works, worth just over 41 thousand euros, financed by Coop Lombardia as part of the agreement signed with the Municipality, will last two months, and involve the resurfacing of the street with a burgundy red colour, in harmony with the tiles of the adjacent square, and the creation of a rest area, with a place reserved for disabled people. In addition to the complete cleaning of public spaces, at the entrance to the civic centre, for which the canopy will also be renewed, a flowerbed with shrubs will be created to beautify and enhance the area, with the installation of two pedestrian gates and side fences for greater safety. Furthermore, maintenance work will be carried out on the curbs and grates of the floor fountain and on the fountain. Even Piazza Bonatti, whose work should start at the beginning of July, will have a new face, enriched with flower beds, benches and shelters that will make it greener, more welcoming and social. The intervention, worth 180 thousand euros (financed with funds from the municipal budget), involves the setting up of street furniture integrated into the greenery: the new flowerbeds will be inserted thanks to the removal of the current flooring, inside concrete tanks . Both benches and shelters will be equipped with LED light systems, inserted in delimited spaces with defined rest areas and points where catering kiosks can be set up. Important redevelopment works are also underway or will begin shortly on municipal buildings. The construction site of Spazio 37, in via Borgazzi, has already started for the new post station which will increase the number of homeless people that can be housed, for approximately 1 year of work. Construction has also started on the Pia Grande swimming pool (ready by the end of summer) and the Chiolo Pioltelli sports center (which will reopen in mid-2025), as well as the former Paolo Borsa school in via Boccaccio, which will see new life by the end of 2025. The renovations of the Bellani middle school and the public housing area of via Bramante, in the San Donato district, will begin in autumn.
