Some groups and some associations (the usual ones, so to speak) have asked for an open-door civic meeting to be held, officially to discuss the serious water crisis affecting the city of Agrigento, its province and the whole of Sicily.

The Prime Minister, Giovanni Civiltà, having heard everyone, accepted the request. A request which, in other parts of the world, is more than legitimate as well as sacrosanct. For Agrigento, however, this is not the case. And only in Agrigento can certain things happen. Let’s proceed in order.

Just a week ago a meeting was requested with the municipal administration to discuss the events concerning the city’s urban transport. The USB transport union promoting the meeting was joined by some other associations and, unexpectedly, two people from Agrigento, Arnone Giuseppe (we don’t know in what capacity), a former lawyer and multiple criminal offender, and Di Rosa Giuseppe, in the odor of… retirement after many years of honorable activity, almost ten out of ten (plus VAT…).

Well, during that meeting, after a few minutes of seriousness, the discussion led to what is the main activity of the former lawyer from Agrigento, who, in no uncertain terms and with sub-zero respect for others, began to rail against the mayor and the entire administration asking, almost in surprise, why they weren’t locked up in their country’s prisons instead of attending that meeting. In short, the real reason for calling the meeting totally failed and for a few minutes we witnessed the former lawyer’s usual disgraceful show.

In short, it was the usual scene that Arnone himself has now become vomitingly accustomed to witnessing.

We fear with reasonable certainty that the exact same thing could happen next Thursday. Various associations have requested this meeting open to all, up to a certain number. Arnone and Di Rosa will be present, there is no doubt about this, although it is important to underline that the show during the Tua meeting was done only by the lawyer (bad hand!). The pre-retired person recorded, recorded, recorded…

We don’t know how he will do it nor do we know if Arnone will find support from one of the associations present, as he did with USB last time (then regretted what happened…). One thing is certain: the wolf, with the approval of the city council, is going to find a small flock of lost sheep ready to be bitten. And we know well that Di Rosa and Arnone are the main accusers of Miccichè and surrounding areas, whatever happens. If there is an earthquake in the Sienese hills, for them, certainly, Miccichè and his troop bear a pinch of blame.

Why allow the two once again to rail against their favorite target, knowing, among other things, that the blame certainly cannot be placed on the mayor or whoever for him. If it doesn’t rain, it doesn’t rain! And if it doesn’t rain, there’s no water! That is, the same water that until a few months ago regularly arrived in people’s homes with all the leakage of that water network reduced to a sieve. Today if water doesn’t flow in that dilapidated water network it’s because it’s missing!

Now, witnessing very unpleasant theatrics like last time is frankly unpleasant and unacceptable for the respectable people of Agrigento, 59,800 of them, who, very, very willingly, are tired and embittered of witnessing such squalid episodes.

And since we already know what will happen next Thursday, why not prevent it?
In this regard, we take the liberty of quietly suggesting to His Excellency the Prefect and the Police Commissioner of Agrigento to take remedies in this sense and block these people who we already know what they will do in the Sollano courtroom.

If the Agrigento authorities could really avoid having to witness this disgust once again, accusations, prisons, handcuffs and so on, it wouldn’t be so bad.

The “crocodile” is ready, in journalistic jargon, and even before “the fact” happens, we know how it will end.

Please, for the good of respectable people, we cling to you, the Institutions of Agrigento.

Don’t let us write on Thursday evening… we warned you.
