Spada says goodbye to politics and returns to Confcommercio

From Confcommercio official to candidate for mayor of the city in 2019, there and back: it is the parable of Daniele Spada, who today said goodbye to politics to return to the association after five years of leave. Spada left the council by force of circumstances, having not been re-elected in this election round, and voluntarily leaves the role of provincial secretary of the League. As the person concerned explains, the work in contact with companies that he carries out on a daily basis is not formally but substantially incompatible with politics. “Either we won the elections and I could think about joining the council or I had already said that I would return to my job,” said Spada, who assures that he would have resigned even if he had entered the council, where he represented the Northern League for the next five years there will be Claudiu Stanasel. Spada assures that the latest controversies within the center-right coalition following the defeat of Gianni Cenni have not accelerated his decision to say goodbye to politics. In a very harsh statement, the board of the Prato League attacked the mayoral candidate and his allies. Those allies with whom Spada says he parted ways all in all well: “I have good relations with the majority, let alone with my opposition colleagues”, he says. Now the Prato League will end up once again in the hands of a commissioner, before going to a congress to elect a new secretary, presumably in the autumn.
For a (now former) representative of the city centre-right who changes his life, there is another who reflects on the defeat, that of the Tuscan capitals in the vote, which all went to the left: Forza Italia MP Erica Mazzetti urges the Tuscan center-right to “start again from concrete ideas”. “As these administrations have demonstrated in several cases, including Prato and Florence, ‘table’ operations and not local ones, do not work. I hear too much talk about names in view of the Regionals, it’s premature”, says the parliamentarian, who concludes succinctly: “Let’s value people and not flags, otherwise we are destined to repeat the same mistakes”.
