The Goddess of the Night has left Brindisi but the G7 will compromise her summer season

The cruise ship Goddess of the Night (formerly Mykonos Magic and former Costa Magica), after being used to host police officers on board during the G7 in Puglia, ended up at the center of much controversy due to the conditions in which they found themselves some cabins, left the port of Brindisi to return to Greece where it landed in the last few hours.

More precisely, she arrived in the port of Astakos, the port where she was laid up before heading to Southern Italy and where she risks remaining inactive for a prolonged period of time, skipping the cruise program that was already scheduled for her in the Aegean Sea in starting mid-July under the Neonyx Cruises brand

In fact, the port of Piraeus’ website has removed the calls that were previously scheduled for the 2024 summer season, but the reasons for this cancellation are currently unknown. The damage to the image of the ship and the company due to the controversy surrounding its use during the G7 may have convinced the shipowner to postpone its market debut or at least postpone it by a few weeks.

From the port of Eleusis the ship had recently set sail for a refit yard and then, as mentioned, was employed in Brindisi where, however, the police unions highlighted and gave great media coverage to some of the poor services that passengers on board found and suffered when entering their cabins.

Not only “aesthetic” issues or quick resolution interventions but also some technical deficiencies since the Goddess of the Seas during a stopover in Greece (in Eleusis) last June 5th had been subjected to a Port State Control inspection which resulted in 5 deficiencies while in Brindisi the same type of inspection conducted by the local Port Authority had then further identified 16 deficencies resulting in the vessel being detained for 6 days.
