Goodbye to the traffic lights on the border between Rimini and Santarcangelo. But the construction site changes the road system

Work is progressing on the safety of the intersection between Via Pasquale Tosi, Via Antica Emilia and the SP 136 “Santarcangelo Mare”, where a new road roundabout is being built. A work located on the border between the Municipality of Santarcangelo di Romagna and the Municipality of Rimini. The work program foresees, in recent weeks, some changes to traffic and the start of the new roundabout, in temporary mode, starting from next Saturday 29 June.

In particular, the intervention for the safety of the intersection between via Pasquale Tosi, SP 136 and via Emilia Vecchia – expected, starting next Saturdaythe elimination of the current traffic-lighted intersection and the construction of a new roundabout intersection with a diameter of 50 metres.

A new roundabout which will be slightly misaligned with respect to the axis of via Antica Emilia due to the presence of a building on the Santarcangelo-San Vito side. Furthermore, with the covering of a section of the consortium ditch, it will be possible to create a short cycle-pedestrian path in safety including crossing the SP136, a cycle-pedestrian crossing on via Pasquale Tosi for the connection with the sustainable mobility of via Emilia Vecchia.

Traffic light out, how traffic changes during construction

The works, in recent weeks, include some changes to traffic divided into three different phases which will last until July 31st.

Since last week and until next Saturday – June 29th – the closure of the exit lane on via Tolemaide, from via Vecchia Emilia, direction Ancona – Ravenna (phase 1). In this phase, any heavy vehicles coming from S. Giustina are obliged to turn left onto via P. Tosi, in the direction of Santarcangelo di Romagna. These vehicles, to proceed towards the sea towards the motorway toll booth on Via Tolemaide, will have to make a U-turn at the “MARR” roundabout on Via P. Tosi and travel straight along Via P. Tosi then Via Tolemaide towards Monte – Sea.

Starting from tomorrow – 26 June – until next Saturday, at night, the closure to vehicular traffic (8pm – 6am) of Via Vecchia Emilia, respectively: From via Soardi to Via Tolemaide; From via G. Toniolo to via Tolemaide (Phase 2). Straight traffic on Via Tolemaide – Tosi will also be channeled into the definitive roadway of the new roundabout and regulated by a construction site traffic light system for the alternate one-way system. In this phase, during daytime, traffic will return as described in the first phase.

From Saturday – 29 June – until 31 July we will switch to roundabout traffic. In this third phase thecomplete abolition of the traffic light system of traffic regulation to move to aroundabout intersection, although not yet definitive.

Traffic will not take place entirely in a roundabout direction, given the need to block traffic in the two areas between the crown of the roundabout and the traffic island on via P. Tosi and via Tolemaide. Traffic coming from S. Giustina on Via Vecchia Emilia will be obliged to turn right, traffic coming from S. Vito on Via Vecchia Emilia will be obliged to turn right, and traffic coming from Via Tolemaide in the direction of Via P. Tosi will be able to continue. straight ahead or turn right towards S. Vito on Via Vecchia Emilia.

Traffic coming from via P. Tosi towards via Tolemaide will be able to continue in a straight line or turn right towards S. Giustina onto via Vecchia Emilia.

“The intervention includes connected works in the territories of both municipalities – jointly declare the Councilor for Public Works of the Municipality of Rimini, Mattia Morolliand the mayor of the Municipality of Santarcangelo, Filippo Sacchetti and is the subject of joint work between the technicians of the Municipality of Santarcangelo, the Municipality of Rimini and the Province of Rimini. A total investment of 950 thousand euros, designed for an intersection affected by significant traffic flows, which connects the Rimini Nord motorway toll booth, the town of San Vito, the industrial area on the border with the hamlet of Santa Giustina and the capital of Santarcangelo”.

“A strategic work – Chiosano – as it is capable of streamlining traffic on the Tolemaide and more easily connecting the towns of Casale San Vito and Santa Giustina with the center of Santarcangelo. The elimination of this traffic light system, which will secure a section of connection between the territories of the two municipalities, is the result of an important shared path, also made up of meetings with technicians and residents of both municipalities”.
