“The first tranche of resources that the Meloni Government allocates for the realization of the new military base in the heart of the San Rossore Park. The decision is contained in Article 5 of the Infrastructure Legislative Decree approved by the Council of Ministers on Monday 24 June, which contains the ‘Urgent provisions for the completion of infrastructure interventions to allow the rapid and expeditious construction of three works subject to special administration'” The council group Diritti in Comune, which has long been opposed to the intervention, updates on the controversial work at the former Cisam. In the aforementioned document we would read that one of the loans is dedicated to the “new headquarters of the departments of excellence of the Carabinieri, in particular of the Special intervention group of the 1st Parachute Carabinieri Regiment ‘Tuscania’ and the Dog Center in Pisa, identified as a ‘work intended for national defence'”, and for which “a total expenditure of 20 million of Euro”.

Auletta is convinced that “that base will never be built either in Pisa or Pontedera or anywhere else. In these 2 years, thanks to the great popular mobilization born with the No Base Movement, we have unmasked this base plan and we have already blocked it once, and so it will happen on the ex-Cisam area in the heart of a larger area of the Park which over the decades the Tuscany Region itself, UNESCO and the European Union have independently deemed worthy of special protection measures (area of the regional park, UNESCO biosphere reserve and Sic-Zsc of Natura 2000), the enormous economic resources that all EU and NATO countries (but not only) are allocating in armaments convince us. more and more, today more than ever, ours must be the words of peace and disarmament.
