Lombardy: Maione, 54 million investments in transport, heating systems and agriculture

(FERPRESS) – Milan, 25 JUN The Lombardy Regional Council has approved the strengthening measures of the air quality intervention plan (PRIA) regarding energy, transport and agricultural activities, in force since the beginning of October.

“Initiatives that align us with European directives and which at the same time provide for an investment quota of over 50 million euros for innovation in agriculture, in the fleet of vehicles in circulation and in heating systems – declared Giorgio Maione, councilor for the Environment and Climate of the Lombardy Region – we have postponed the limitations on Euro 5 diesel vehicles in urban areas, provided for by European and national legislation, from 2025, while still guaranteeing the possibility of using the kilometer limitation provided by the Move-In service. We have also asked the competent ministries for approval of two extraordinary measures: 10 million for urban redevelopment interventions called ‘green roads’ and 15 million for the reduction of ammonia emissions due to the storage and spreading of livestock waste. Added to these are the newly opened tenders relating to the replacement of SME vehicles, 6 million euros, and the replacement of polluting heating systems, 23 million euros. We adapt the rules and invest to accompany the changes. We want to further reduce emissions without penalizing citizens and businesses.”
