The new plan for extraordinary asphalting on main and secondary roads, pavements and car parks for approximately 130 thousand square meters of new road surface.
The plan is financed with 4 million euros set aside «with constant work of management of budget deficits and thanks to the income of cross-border workers», explained the budget councilor Cristina Buzzetti. To this figure is added the value of the restoration asphalting carried out by various companies to compensate for tampering due to work on the electricity, water and gas networks.

«It’s about an important step, awaited by citizens and which we will make mainly in the summer months to cause as little inconvenience as possible to citizens – said the mayor Davide Galimberti – The investment is made possible by the recovery of deficits and made efficient by the choice to contract out the entire road maintenance to a single manager, from signs to asphalting, in order to speed up times and optimize costs».

A scheme to maximize the commitment of the deficit on infrastructure investments, which the Administration intends to propose again in the coming years “unless the Government decides, as announced, to further reduce transfers to local authorities”, warns Galimberti.

THE CRITERIA OF THE ASPHALTING PLAN

«Before, road maintenance was divided both by areas of the city and by type of work – recalls the councilor for Mobility and Infrastructure, Andrea Civati – Now, with the collaboration of the Guardia di Finanza we have brought everything together and put out a tender worth 16 million for the three-year period, won by the Civelli company, of the territory, for more effective and rapid management of road maintenance».

There are dozens of streets in Varese affected by the new asphalting. Work will start in July (compatibly with the actual arrival of the summer) from the city center and then continue in autumn, until November, in the secondary streets of the neighborhood.
«Especially on the main roads some construction sites will proceed at night, to create as little disruption as possible to car traffic and also to pedestrians”, he assures Giancarlo Civelli on behalf of the company that will manage the works.

Again in order to limit inconvenience as much as possible, an ad hoc communication plan is also envisaged with constant updates to citizens (the works can be followed in real time on vareseinforma and on the social networks of the Municipality of Varese), and notices in letterboxes of residents.

ROADS, SIDEWALKS AND PARKING

Of the 4 million euros invested in the sector, 100 thousand euros are reserved for the resurfacing of the sidewalks of Brunella, viale Valganna, via Dezza, via Sacco. There are also four car parks subject to redevelopment: via Dandolo, via Morselli, via Speroni and Largo Gigli.

«Road safety also depends on road maintenance.” says the local police councilor Raffaele Catalano with reference to both the integrity of the road surface and the clearly visible presence of horizontal signs.
