Until 12pm Thursday 27 June they are closed to transit cycle-pedestrian cycle paths and nature trails in the Gesso and Stura river park throughout the municipal territory. The ban on access to the population on sections of the cycle-naturalistic path was decided by the mayor, Patrizia Manassero, due to bad weather and the conditions of the Gesso torrent and the Stura river, with an order issued today morning, Tuesday 25 June. The Municipal Civil Protection Group is entrusted with the task of providing adequate signage.

The ordinance
“Given the intense rainfall that is affecting the Piedmontese territory – we read in the ordinance – and in particular the mountain and piedmont area of the South-West, which have led to significant accumulations on the ground and increases in the flow of the main water courses also on the territory of the city of Cuneo. Following an inspection by municipal technicians and civil protection volunteers, as well as highlighted by the municipal hydrometric monitoring network, the significant increase in the flow rate in the riverbed of the Gesso torrent and the Stura di Demonte river and the transmission of the ARPA Piemonte functional center was detected of the exceeding the warning level by the hydrometer located in Andonno in the catchment area of the Gesso torrent.
GIVEN the probable further increase in outflows expected in the riverbed, both as regards the Gesso torrent and as regards the Stura di Demonte river, which may make frequenting the cycle-naturalistic paths of the Gesso and Stura river park dangerous.
RECOGNIZED the opportunity, in order to prevent and eliminate serious dangers that can threaten the safety of citizens, to provide for the ban on cycle-pedestrian transit of the cycle-naturalistic paths in the Gesso and Stura river park throughout the municipal territory. CONSIDERING the urgency of taking action in this regard in order to prevent and eliminate serious dangers that can threaten the safety of citizens, which the above-mentioned fact represents.
ORDER
- The prohibition and closure of cycle-pedestrian transit on the cycle-naturalistic paths in the Gesso and Stura river park throughout the municipal territory.
- The prohibition of access to the population to said sections of cycle-naturalistic path.
- To the Municipal Civil Protection Group to ensure the preparation of adequate signs.
This ordinance will produce legal effects until 12:00 on Thursday 27 June 2024.
