Filandari (Vibo Valentia) – The Economic – Financial Police Unit of the Financial Police of Vibo Valentia, as part of a service to combat the trafficking and dealing of narcotic substances, carried out in the evenings of last week in the province of Vibo Valentia, proceeded in locality Filandari, Mesiano hamlet, to the control of a car driven by a native of the municipality of Tropea, finding more than 5 kilograms of marijuana on board, cleverly hidden inside cardboard boxes containing school books.
The search, carried out by the Vibonese Fiamme Gialle at the home of the arrested person, which took place with the aid of the drug-sniffing dog “Jerry – Lee” of the Guardia di Finanza Group of Lamezia Terme, made it possible to find, cleverly hidden inside the kitchen furniture, also a kilogram of cocaine, packaged in a rectangular block, whose packaging methods recall its origin from South American countries, in addition to the sum of 3,000 euros in cash, three precision scales, two vacuum machines and various material suitable for packaging doses. The value of the narcotic on the drug dealing market is approximately 200,000 euros. What was found was seized, together with the car used to transport the drugs by the arrested person, who was arrested and taken to the Vibo Valentia prison. The arrest was validated, in the following days, by the GIP of the Court of the capital, who ordered the offender to be placed under house arrest. Investigations by the Judicial Authority are underway, aimed at identifying any accomplices involved in drug trafficking, as well as establishing the place of origin of the narcotic.
