25.06.2024 – 08.21 – After three editions which gained the favor of the local public, this year too in the outdoor spaces of the Sartorio Museum of Trieste, thanks to the collaboration of the Municipality of Trieste and Civici Musei the event took place Let’s Play” which saw the La Contrada theatre, the Bonawentura/Teatro Miela and the Teatro Stabile Sloveno propose eight shows in twelve evenings.
Let’s play” is part of a larger LET’S project, Literature in Trieste, which already in its name aims to highlight the importance of literature in the identity of Trieste.

On Sunday 23 June 2024, in the garden of the Sartorio Museum, the La Contrada theater brought it to the stage PUTELE… AND PUTEI. CARPINTERI AND FARAGUNA 100taken from the texts of Lino Carpinteri And Mariano Faraguna. The show saw veterans of the Bobbio Theater taking turns on stage Ariella Reggio And Adriano Giraldisurrounded by young people Zoe Pernici And Giacomo Seguliacreator and director of the nice representation that wanted to pay homage to the authors, whose centenary is the anniversary of their birth.

Carpinteri and Faraguna, dialect writers and playwrights, have set most of their works in our region, in a territory perhaps more ideal than real, which goes from Trieste to upper Dalmatia, also including Istria and Kvarner. Also in this theatrical representation the spectators were transported into the past and precisely into a historical era in which Trieste and Dalmatia were included in the Austro-Hungarian empire. The language used by the authors is an “Istro-Venetian” dialect, a little distant from that of today, but with numerous Slovenian, German, even Turkish and Arabic influences, demonstrating once again the multiculturalism of these lands.

Between one joke and another, the text was inspired by the dynamics of a Trieste family, in which the elderly mother (Ariella Reggio) discusses with her son (Adriano Giraldi) the normal issues of everyday life and on the occasion of His visit to his grandchildren illustrates to them, as grandparents often do with their grandchildren, what life was like for young people in his era. What emerged was a puzzle of stories, poems and fragments of iconic works by the two authors, such as “Co yesterday putei” and “Le maldobrie”, in which once again the adventures of folkloristic characters from Trieste were highlighted , Istrians and Dalmatians, like sailors, captains, but also simple villagers and noble citizens, in a glimpse of distant but also close history for the inhabitants of these lands, which have always been a meeting place of Central European and Adriatic cultures.

Between the uncomfortable presence of Mrs. Debegnac and the stories of Captain Nacinovic, there was no shortage of laughter and the public who joined the pleasant initiative in large numbers gave the protagonists warm applause.
