No increase on the TARI in Viareggio: “A unique result in Versilia”, and “rare also in the rest of the Region” underlined the mayor Giorgio Del Ghingaro yesterday, on the sidelines of the approval of the 2024 waste tax in the city council. resolution passed with 14 votes in favor (those of Casa Viareggio), 4 abstentions (Pd and Fratelli d’Italia) and 4 against (Tiziano Nicoletti for Spazio Progressista and the League).
The discussion on the point, as well as that on the launch of the structural plan (approved with 14 votes in favor and 4 against), passed away without major debates. The only question was posed by the leader of the League Alessandro Santini: “The failure to increase tariffs, which the Municipality boasts of, even towards other Municipalities, could fall – he asked – on the manager or on the Municipality itself, therefore on citizens, in the following years, postponing the problem to 2025?”. And he then explained how the “Zero Rincari” objective was achieved. “The tariffs – said Del Ghingaro – derive from the application of the Financial Economic Plan that the ATO draws up after having received from the manager the sum of the economic and financial plans of the various companies belonging to the group. The PEF draft originally proposed – said Del Ghingaro – immediately appeared disproportionate to us because it envisaged a 10% increase while for other Municipalities a ‘discount’ had been applied which in some cases was really significant”. So on May 8, through a letter, the mayor asked Ato for an extension for a check on the PEF, “this new plan was arrived at in line with 2023 – he adds – after some discussions with Ato and a careful study of the data We did a new analysis of the costs with the manager, namely Sea, some of which had been overestimated. We then included the amounts relating to the fight against tax evasion in the PEF (around 1 million and 400 thousand euros) but, the most important element. important is the strong development given to door-to-door, waste separation and reduction of waste”. Although Spazio Progressista did not intervene, with a note it explains the reasons for the vote against: “From 2015 to today, the cost of waste disposal has never decreased. A clear sign that waste separation is not carried out in a virtuous manner”.
