Catanzaro, the extension of the sporting restriction until June 2025 arrives

Important news in the world of Italian football. The Cabinetupon proposal of the Minister for Sport Andrea Abodiapproved a measure to extend the sporting restriction to June 30, 2025 for memberships formalized before July 1, 2023, the date of entry into force of the reform. The sporting bond is the obligation to perform a sporting activity that the athlete undertakes at the time of registration and which binds him to a specific club for a duration pre-established by the Federation to which he is affiliated. Now the reform provides athletes with an annual duration with automatic renewal and the right of withdrawal which can be activated at any time. This decision would allow the rule to come into force gradually and definitively to balance the interests of athletes and sports clubs.

A fundamental provision that gives all amateur and professional clubs that believe in youth sectors the time necessary to reorganize their work with a view to valorising young people. This government decision was welcomed with great satisfaction by the president of League B Mauro Balata: “I would like to thank Minister Abodi for his vision and foresight in defending the wealth of talent present in the youth sectors of our clubs, who in this way will be able to continue to invest in the champions of the future. There have been many discussions with the minister in recent times on the subject and today’s news makes us happy, also because in this way continuity is ensured on the main objective of the League B, that of the valorization of young people to be launched into the Italian football system”. “The hope – concludes the Serie B issue – is that the opening of a reflection on the topic is decisive for addressing and structurally resolving the problems encountered”.
