REGGIO EMILIA – The bad weather gave no respite during the night. Prefecture, mayors, civil protection: it was a night of work for hundreds of people in the province, especially in the mountains.

The Rescue Coordination Center was activated by the Prefect at 6pm yesterday. Three meetings were held to take stock of the situation, the last one at 4.30 this morning.

The most critical situation concerns the flooding of the Tresinaro torrent. The municipalities of Rubiera, Scandiano, Casalgrande and the Corticella hamlet of Reggio Emilia.
There will be some restrictions on movement.

“We invite residents of those areas not to go out (unless for strictly necessary reasons) and to avoid risky situations (e.g. not going into cellars, garages, basements)”, the Prefecture informs.

The mayor of Rubiera Emanuele Cavallaro updated his citizens throughout the night via social media. At 3am the red alert: “Tresinaro is at risk of flooding”. At 6.30 a small improvement: “Tresinaro is very high but has fallen a bit. If you need help, call the number 800227733”.

In Sorbolo the bridge over the Enza was closed at 4 this morning.
