Marialuisa Forte new mayor of Campobasso! It’s official. The capital of Molise has its first townelected with a run-off on Monday 24 June 2024. The polling stations for the Campobasso municipal elections closed at 3pm.

There newly elected mayor Marialuisa Forte (wide shot) that exceeds the center-right candidate Aldo De Benedittis getting the 51% of the votesagainst the 49% of the competitor. The result of the first round was therefore overturned, where De Benedittis seemed certain of victory and only after the recount of the votes requested by the other candidates was the run-off certified. Voter turnout was 49%. A razor’s edge victory, but a great challenge that led a woman to govern the Molise capital!

Two weeks ago the vote saw the centre-right in pole position with the lawyer De Benedittis. Yesterday, Sunday 23 June 2024, and today, Monday 24, the citizens of Campobasso went to the polls again to choose the next mayor of the Molise capital.

The new mayor is the center-left candidate Marialuisa Forte, who obtains 51% of the preferences, overtaking the centre-right candidate Aldo De Benedittis, who stops at 49%. Who goes up and who goes down
Marialuisa Forte (wide field) overturns the result of the first round and becomes the new mayor of Campobasso with 51% of the votes while Aldo De Benedittis (centre-right) stops at 49%. In fact, De Benedittis comes close to the same percentage of votes as in the first round (he stopped at 48%) but collapses in terms of total votes, going from 13 thousand preferences to just over 10 thousand. On the other hand, Marialuisa Forte went from 32% in the first round to 51%, gaining almost 2 thousand votes. In this case, the alliance with the civic candidate is fundamental Pino Rutawhich had recorded a good 20% of the votes.
