On by-partisanship in Commission

(DIRE) Bologna, 24 June – “Accept the requests of associations of people who are victims of thalidomide, in relation to the compensation recognized by law to people whose disability is derived from the use of this drug by the mother during pregnancy”. The Health Policies Commission of Emilia-Romagna chaired by Ottavia Soncini has approved the bipartisan resolution with first signature Giuseppe Paruolo (Pd) which commits the Regional Council and Government to accept the requests of the associations of victims of this drug. The address act was signed by group colleagues Matteo Daffadà, Marcella Zappaterra, Manuela Rontini, Mirella Dalfiume and Palma Costi, by Silvia Zamboni (Europa Verde), Giulia Gibertoni (mixed group), Marta Evangelisti (Fratelli d’Italia) and Silvia Piccinini (M5s).

“Thalidomide – summarizes the first signatory Paruolo – is a medicine used in the fifties and sixties as an anti-nausea by pregnant women and has become sadly known for being the first case of pharmacovigilance, as it is responsible for serious malformations in the fetuses of women taking this active ingredient. In this resolution, we simply ask that the Italian State proceed with the compensation provided with specific laws in 2008 and 2016, thus reviewing the particularly restrictive implementing regulations released subsequently”.
