The summer solstice concert draws applause and fills Piazza delle Erbe. On June 21st, hundreds of people participated in the evening organized in Aprilia by the Liberi Cantores association on the occasion of the European Music Festival. An intense evening, full of emotions and talents. The 20th edition of the concert was also a useful opportunity to celebrate the 25 years since the foundation of the Liberi Cantores choir, founded by maestro Rita Nuti, who still directs it today.

The “Summer Solstice” concert was held by candlelight in Piazza delle Erbe, in the renovated square behind the town hall in Piazza Roma. The opening was entrusted to the splendid voice of Soprano Mariangela Cafaro with a tribute to the maestro Ennio Morricone. Accompanying her on the piano are Maestro Rita Nuti and Maestro Barbara Magnoni. (The songs: Once upon a time in America from “C’era una volta il west”; I knew I loved you from “C’era una volta in America”; the main theme from “Once upon a time in the West”) . However, last Friday the initiative also gave space to the inauguration of the “Vetrinarte” exhibition by Cristiana Sadocco and the Jhana Marga association.

Applause then for the performance of the Liberi Cantores choir for the two songs “Love’s theme” from “Nuovo Cinema Paradiso” and Gabriel’s Oboe from mission with the voice of the soprano Cafaro and maestro Magnoni on the piano.

The performance of the young Aprilian artist Marina Zeppilli, pianist and multi-instrumentalist, teacher and choir director, was commendable. She first performed alone with the song “Hallelujah” by Alicia Keys and then accompanied the Pascoli choir and the female vocal ensemble “Sunrise” of which she is director. The Girls Sang: Royals Lorde, J.Little (1983); Some Nights Fun, Fear of the Dark by Iron Maiden and “E la luna bussò” by Loredana Bertè, Halo and Umbrella by Rihanna.

The Pascoli Choir directed by Maestro Rita Nuti since 2014 has performed “La Bussola”, a song by Maurizio Santoiemma and then “L’clock scassato” by Paolo La Rosa and again “Sesere eyee sud Africa song in the Xshosa and kwngena thina bo rock my soul, an African-American spiritual and to follow siyahamba I sing the Zulu language which invites man to walk in the light of the lord.

Mariapia Fenzi’s jazz performance was wonderful, giving the audience the two songs “At Last” by Harry Warren and “Summertime” by George Gerwish. The closing was then entrusted to some songs from the musical “Mamma Mia” staged at the end of the school year by the Pascoli Institute and the teachers at the Europa theatre. “We thank the Municipality of Aprilia, the Pro Loco, the Ministry of Culture, the European Commission, the Department for Youth Policies and Universal Civil Service, but also Feniarco. The Summer Solstice – they say the Liberi Cantores – was included in the 180 concerts throughout Italy on the occasion of the European Music Festival”.
