From 24 June 2024 it is also possible to request and renew your passport in the Camposampiero post office. The service is already available in seven other post offices in the province of Padua: Candiana, Pozzonovo, San Pietro Viminario, Stanghella, Villanova di Camposampiero, Galzignano Terme, Carceri and in a further 28 offices in the Veneto provinces, before being extended to all offices postal services in the Region, as announced in recent days by the Director General of Poste Italiane, Giuseppe Lasco. Poste Italiane’s Polis project, therefore, is proceeding at ever faster pace with the aim of transforming post offices into the home of digital services, a one-stop shop to make access to Public Administration services simple and fast. Polis is financed with resources from the complementary plan to the PNNR with 800 million euros and approximately 400 million from Poste Italiane.

How to present the practice

Thanks to the agreement signed between Poste Italiane, the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy, citizens resident or domiciled in the municipalities included in the Polis project will be able to open the application process for or renewing a passport by presenting the documentation directly in the office postal, without having to go to the police station, with the possibility of receiving the passport at home.

All you need to do is give the post office operator in your municipality a valid identity document, your tax code, two photographs, pay the 42.50 euro tax slip and a 73.50 euro revenue stamp. In case of renewal, you will also need to hand over your old passport or a copy of the report of loss or theft of the old document. Thanks to the technological platform, the operator will collect the citizen’s information and biometric data (fingerprints and photos) and then send the documentation to the relevant police office. The new passport can be delivered by Poste Italiane directly to the applicant’s home.

Institutional collaboration

“The partnership launched between the Ministry of the Interior and the Italian Post Office is certainly an important one, with a view to mutual collaboration in order to provide the best possible services for citizens” – declared Deputy Chief of Police Giovanni Marino, Director of the Division Administrative and Social Police.

“We are truly very pleased – declared the manager of the Padua branch of Poste Italiane, Francesca Mauro – to offer new services throughout the territory, demonstrating the attention and closeness that Poste Italiane pays to the communities. This new service meets the needs of citizens who will be able to apply for a passport without having to travel to Padua. A significant saving of time and money and, why not, also a contribution to the environment by reducing emissions”.

The passport issuing service adds both to the others already active in the Polis post offices: personal data, civil status, social security certificates and voluntary jurisdiction procedures, and to the traditional postal, financial and insurance services of the Italian Post Office.
