Tuscan civic network, the mayors: “Giani only supports the centre-left”

Grosseto. It already seems serious that a regional president proclaims himself the leader of an opposition revolt that perhaps would even prefer other leaders, but up to this point we are within the perimeter of political dialectics, not very institutional perhaps, but that’s what it is. What instead goes beyond, we would even say overflows, the margins of the loyal relationship between institutions causing, unfortunately but inexorably, President Giani to lose his institutional role and with it his credibility, is the subsequent consideration that leads him to say that he will work in the last months of the his mandate ‘in harmony with the majority of centre-left mayors’, presuming that this will be the outcome of the ballots, in order ‘to be able to give substance to many projects’”.

As stated in a statement, they are the mayors of the Tuscan civic networkAlessandro Ghinelli, mayor of Arezzo, Antonfrancesco Vivarelli Colonna, mayor of Grosseto, Mario Pardini, mayor of Lucca, Francesco Persiani, mayor of Massa, Michele Conti, mayor of Pisa, Alessandro Tomasi, mayor of Pistoia, Nicoletta Fabio, mayor of Siena, commenting on a recent interview with the Governor of Tuscany.

“It is here that the institutional role is shattered not only because this interview comes out in full electoral silence, but also because the meaning is unequivocal – continues the note -. Is there therefore a privileged relationship between the president of the Region and the mayors of the Democratic Party? Are there shared projects for the territories governed by the Democratic Party, unlike the others? Are there different weights and measures? Should non-PD mayors, and with them their municipalities, expect obstacle courses? Should we expect, as unfortunately has already happened several times, that our projects will be subjected to scrutiny by the interests of the Democratic Party? Should we expect an ‘enemy’ Region just because we represent the alternative to the Democratic Party? With this interview, President Giani loses his profile of impartiality, neutrality and loyal institutional collaboration and therefore we expect a rectification that will restore trust and serenity”.

“If this rectification does not arrive it will be clear that from tomorrow we will no longer have an institutional interlocutor in the Region, but a political opponent willing to look first at the ‘friendly’ mayors and then at all the others – ends the statement -. It doesn’t work like that and we trust that President Giani, to whom our institutional respect goes, obviously until proven otherwise, will correct himself and re-establish a correct climate of mutual trust”.
