On Tuesday 25 June (from 8.30 pm, Sanctuary, in Piazza Carlo d’Angiò), the event “I am the capital of Puglia – Gala of culture” will be held with many artists and guests to celebrate the 13th anniversary of the UNESCO recognition of the Lombard traces of the Sanctuary of the Archangel Michael as part of the Longobards in Italy serial site in the special year of the Capital of Culture of Puglia.
The Manifesto of the cultural welfare of Puglia will also be presented, the inauguration of the artistic and sustainable installation “Fragments of reality” in the upper atrium of the Sanctuary and the philatelic postmark with Poste.
Among the guests: Renzo Arbore (connected), Ettore Bassi, Paolo Sassanelli, Gianna Fratta, Carmine Padula, Pasquale Stafano and Gianni Iorio, Licia Lanera, Mario Perrotta, Davide Grittani, Nicola Genco, Giovannangelo de Gennaro, Radiodervish, the homage to opera (UNESCO intangible heritage) with the Paolo Grassi Foundation in the 50th anniversary of the Festival della Valle d’Itria in Martina Franca and the closing entrusted to the Notte della Taranta Orchestra.
The awards were presented by various regional institutions: the President of the Puglia Region Michele Emiliano, the Vice President Raffaele Piemontese, the Councilor for Legality and Culture Viviana Matrangola, the Director of the Tourism and Culture Department of the Puglia Region Aldo Patruno, the President of the Teatro Pubblico Pugliese Paolo Ponzio, representatives of the regional agencies Apulia Film Commission and Pugliapromozione, the President of ANCI Puglia Fiorenza Pascazio, the mayors of the UNESCO Sites of Puglia – the Mayor of Andria Giovanna Bruno and the Mayor of Alberobello Francesco de Carlo – the mayors of the regional capitals – the Mayor of Mesagne (Culture Capital of Puglia 2023) Toni Matarrelli and the Mayor of Lucera Giuseppe Pitta (Culture Capital of Puglia 2025) – among others.
Furthermore, the cultural residences of the Capital will be described (theatre with Bottega degli Apocrifi, cinema with Audiovisual Memories of Daunia, craftsmanship with Legambiente, literature and poetry with Rhymers club and tourism with Vostok100k by Lorenzo Scaraggi), the site-specific installation will be inaugurated sustainable kinetic “Fragments of reality” by Alessandro Lupi positioned in the upper atrium of the Sanctuary for the project “The light of the Archangel”. Fragments of Reality is a series of site-specific sustainable art installations that operate 24 hours a day without electricity. The technique consists of small mirrors moved by the wind that reflect the environment, natural light during the day and artificial light from public lamps or moonlight at night.
For the special year of the Cultural Capital of Puglia, the Municipality also promoted the philatelic postmark with Poste Italiane.
