The Contemporary Dance Festival in Ferrara from September to November

From September, contemporary dance returns to be the protagonist in Ferrara, entering the green spaces and historic buildings of the city. Between the end of September and November, the 2024 Contemporary Dance Festival will inaugurate the new theatrical season of the Teatro Comunale di Ferrara, with two world premieres and a national premiere.

“They have been four exciting years – said the vice-president of the Teatro Comunale di Ferrara, Carlo Bergamasco -, thanks to everyone’s work: the president Michele Placido, the general management and the artistic direction. A strength that has brought us to the maximum result: we are the first theater for artistic quality among traditional theatres. For this we thank the public in Ferrara and beyond, who responded to us warmly. The 2024 Contemporary Dance Festival contains the best of these years.”

“There is an aspect in the art of dance which, at this moment and in the future, will give the discipline a fundamental role – underlined the general director of the Teatro Comunale di Ferrara, Moni Ovadia -. We are witnessing the destruction of human bodies. Dance, on the other hand, is the art that makes the human body a shrine, a temple. And the Teatro Comunale di Ferrara with the Contemporary Dance Festival finds one of its strong points in this discipline”.

“The Festival will continue along the lines traced in recent years – explained the artistic director of the Teatro Comunale di Ferrara, Marcello Corvino -. The first part of the event, in collaboration with Interno Verde and with site-specific shows, will present to the public a national and a world premiere: Chorus – The day I became a cloud and Cosmico Lounge. Then, in the second part of the festival, we will have the world premiere of Puccini’s Opera. The programming takes into account Ferrara, but also the world. Ours is a ‘glocal’ (global and local) vision of artistic production”.
