Who is Sara Funaro
Psychologist, 48 years old, outgoing councilor for Welfare, she is the niece of the mayor of the Arno flood in 1966, the writer and Christian Democrat parliamentarian Piero Bargellini. She will lead a municipal council supported by a coalition with the Greens-Left, More Europe, Action and civic lists but not Italia Viva of former mayor Matteo Renzi.
In 2014 Funaro began the administrative adventure alongside the mayor Dario Nardella as councilor for Welfare and Healthcare, Housing, Equal Opportunities, Reception and Integration. In 2019 you were elected to the City Council and reconfirmed again on the council with delegations to Welfare and Healthcare, Immigration and Education.
Born in Florence in 1976, after high school she graduated in Psychology at the University of Florence and specialized in Psychotherapy with a four-year course in Clinical Psychology. You completed a specialization course in phenomenological psychotherapy at the University of Urbino and attended a master’s degree in ethnopsychiatry with teachers from the Center Devereux in Paris.
Over the years she has worked as a clinical psychotherapist, as a staff trainer and as a supervisor of organizations working with people coming from traumatic situations, especially migratory situations. She was co-founder of the school of Dynamic Phenomenological Psychotherapy.
