After the show on Saturday evening that the “Ciuri ti Maj” company brought to the stage (in the photo below) in Largo Mons. Gambuzza, in the presence of a large audience who appreciated the piece “Vinciemmu awar e persumu la paci” directed by Marcello Bruno, and after the inauguration, together with the animators of the Grest groups, of the Pippo Giuca youth center (in the photo below), created by the young people of the catechism as a space open to all the young people who intend to meet here and participate in initiatives dedicated to them, the feast of Saint Peter the Apostle, patron saint of Modica, comes to life. Yesterday evening, the staircase of the Mother Church was a superb setting for the concert (in the photo above) by the philharmonic ensemble of the “Città di Modica” Belluardo Risadelli musical band with the extraordinary participation of the maestros Andrea Giuffredi, Corrado Giuffredi and Fulvio Creux. Today, at 7pm, there will be the Eucharistic celebration in memory of Father Carmelo Lorefice which will be held in via Blandino, in the San Giovanni district.

Tomorrow, however, at 4.30 pm, in the “San Pietro” cemetery chapel, the Eucharistic celebration in memory of Msgr. is scheduled. Gambuzza and all the deceased buried there. Also tomorrow, but at 8pm, at the Domus S. Petri, the “Francis of Assisi today” initiative is scheduled, with Msgr. Corrado Lorefice, archbishop of Palermo, and mons. Rosario Gisana, bishop of Piazza Armerina, who will dialogue with Father Giovanni Salonia starting from his latest books on Saint Francis. From Wednesday, then, the triduum of St. Peter will begin. At 7pm, there will be the Eucharistic celebration with the participation of the parish community of Sant’Anna presided over by the priest Crescenzio Mucia. Also on Wednesday, but at 8pm, at the Domus S. Petri, there will be a screening of the film “Pimpernel Red” on the paths to dignity of people with mental illnesses, curated by a network of associations and institutions that operate in the field and with the participation of the director Franco Jannuzzi and Gaetano Giunta, creator of the film and the project “Light is freedom”.

“We are getting closer – comment the provincial president of Confcommercio Ragusa, Gianluca Manenti, and the sectional president, Giorgio Moncada, who support the carrying out of the celebrations in the media – to the key phases of the patron saint’s day. And it is natural that the attention grows more and more. There is also great attention on the part of our associates because the feast of St. Peter the Apostle remains a moment to be lived fully and profoundly.”
