SAVERIO FERRITO ORDAINED PERMANENT DEACON IN PANTELLERIA
Living the life of the church and the parish community. But also to put yourself at the service of those most in need. On this path, already followed for decades, Saverio Ferrito was ordained permanent deacon with the imposition of hands and the prayer of consecration of the Bishop Monsignor Angelo Giurdanella in the mother church of Pantelleria. Taking part in the celebration were, among others, Don Nicola Altaserse, director of the diocesan liturgical office, Don Vito Impellizzeri, dean of the theological faculty of Sicily, Don Salvatore Cipri and Don Vincenzo Greco, the religious on the island and Monsignor Domenico Mogavero, Bishop emeritus. «I have the task of weaving community relations – said Ferrito – to become a craftsman and guardian of community communion. An arduous and demanding task from which the credibility of my, our testimony depends. Thanks to my family, my wife and my daughter, who have been participants in my journey and now will be participants in my service. Altar, community, family, all in the sign and service of communion. This was handed over to me and this I intend to carry forward as a testimony and as a service.”

THE GRANDMOTHERS OF THE CENTER “LIVE LIFE” AT THE SEA FOR 3 WEEKS
Sea, sunbathing, a walk by the sea and… moments of gathering in the shade. The grandmothers of the “Vivi la vita” center of the diocesan Caritas-Fondazione San Vito Onlus have returned to the “Oasi” lido on the Tonnarella seafront in Mazara del Vallo this year too. For three weeks the grandmothers, accompanied by the entertainers, went with the vehicles of the Foundation and Caritas to the lido to spend a few hours in total carelessness between gentle gymnastics, walks on the seashore, swimming, sunbathing, playing cards and some ice-cream. «Our thanks go to the Marrone brothers who for years now have welcomed our grandmothers free of charge and with a smile at their facility», said the president of the “San Vito Onlus” Foundation, Vito Puccio. During the year the grandmothers (there are around 30) attend the activities at the Foundation’s headquarters, in via Casa Santa, 41 in Mazara del Vallo.
