Udine, the Japanese entrepreneur is in a coma: fatal punch for defending an injured man

Simpei Tominaga struggles between life and death but with each passing hour his hopes fade. The 56-year-old Japanese man, who has been in Italy since he was a child and his father worked for a large Japanese cinema and comics company, is in a medically induced coma after being attacked on Friday night in Udine, according to Corriere della Sera. Five people were arrested. The man, an import-export entrepreneur, was outside a kebab shop in the center eating with some friends when a bloody and fleeing man appeared and intervened to defend him.

The pursuers, the five arrested all aged between 20 and 30 – coming from Veneto, two are of Ukrainian origins, one is Maghrebi – were the same ones with whom he had had an argument shortly before. The Japanese tried to calm the young people’s spirits, trying to prevent them from beating the man again, but Tominaga was hit by a punch and when he fell he hit his head on the pavement, suffering multiple skull fractures. The entrepreneur sells furniture from Japan where his wife and son live and left immediately to join him.
