extraordinary measures for safety in the city

TURIN – On the occasion of the celebrations of Saint John, the municipal administration, in collaboration with the Prefecture and the Police Headquarters of Turin, has prepared a series of measures to guarantee safety before, during and after the events. The traditional fireworks display will be held Monday 24 June at 10.30pm in the areas of Piazza Vittorio Veneto And Piazza Gran Madre di Dio.

Access to the show area

Access to Piazza Vittorio Veneto will be allowed to a maximum of 49,500 people. The public will be able to access the square from around 6pm through controlled gates:

  • Gate 19: via Montebello/via Verdi – sector H
  • Gate 17: via Giulia di Barolo/via Matteo Pescatore – sector F
  • Gate 16: via Vanchiglia/via Matteo Pescatore – sector D
  • Gate 15: via Bava/via Matteo Pescatore – sector B (access for people with disabilities)
  • Gate 6: via Maria Vittoria/via Bonafous – sector A (access for people with disabilities)
  • Gate 5: via della Rocca/via Maria Vittoria – sector C
  • Gate 4: via Plana/via Maria Vittoria – sector E
  • Gate 1: via San Massimo/via Principe Amedeo – sector G
  • Gate 9: via Cavour/via della Rocca – sector I
  • Gate 11: via Mazzini/via della Rocca – sector I

Restrictions on Vehicular Traffic

From 9: Ponte Vittorio Emanuele I will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic on the south sidewalk. The north sidewalk will be closed to pedestrians from 12pm.

From 3pm: traffic ban in the area delimited by corso San Maurizio, via Cadorna, Lungo Po Diaz, corso Cairoli, corso Vittorio Emanuele II, via Fratelli Calandra, via Giolitti, via delle Rosine, via Maria Vittoria, via San Massimo, via Des Ambrois , via San Francesco da Paola, via Vasco, via Verdi, via Rossini.

From 6pm: traffic ban in the area delimited by Ponte Vittorio Emanuele I, Corso Casale, via Santorre di Santarosa, via Monferrato, via Villa della Regina, via Vittozzi, via Gioannetti, climb to the CAI, viale Maresciallo Giardino, corso Moncalieri 13, corso Moncalieri Po River side, Umberto I bridge. Traffic ban on the municipal road to the Basilica of Superga.

From 8 a parking ban will be established with forced removal on both sides in the following areas:

  • Piazza Vittorio Veneto.
  • Along Po Cadorna (between Piazza Vittorio Veneto and Corso San Maurizio).

Public transport

Public transport routes will also be subject to diversions. The metro will close at 1.00 am. Details on diversions and additional services are available on the GTT website (www.gtt.to.it).

Closure of Car Parks and Suspension of Services

The underground car park in Piazza Vittorio Veneto will close from 9am. Season ticket holders must leave the car park by 3pm. From 6am on 24 June to 5am on 25 June the taxi area in the southern exedra of Piazza Vittorio Veneto will be suspended, while the Gran Madre taxi area will be suspended from 6pm on June 24th. The bike sharing and scooter rental vehicles present in the square will be removed by 12pm on June 24th.

Beverage administration

Until 2am on June 24th, the administration, sale and possession for takeaway of drinks with containers suitable for the offense will be prohibited within the perimeter area of ​​the streets traveled by the historical procession and in Piazza Castello. From 3pm on 24 June, the administration, sale, consumption and possession in a public place for the purpose of taking away drinks with containers suitable for the offense will be prohibited in the streets delimited by Lungo Po Cadorna, Lungo Po Diaz, Corso Cairoli, Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, Via della Rocca, via Maria Vittoria, piazza Carlo Emanuele II, via San Francesco da Paola, via Po, via Verdi and corso San Maurizio.
