The promptness and courage of an Assistant Chief of the Penitentiary Police of Alessandria, NR originally from Lamezia Terme, were decisive in saving the life of a woman of around 30 who was about to throw herself into the Tanaro river from the Meier Bridge in Alessandria.
Around 6.15pm the man was driving across the bridge and, when he realized that the woman had already climbed over the parapet, he stopped and reached her, blocking her and taking her to safety.
“There was no time to think” the agent told Radio Gold “I only thought about running towards her and stopping her”.
The 118 health workers also intervened on site and rescued the girl, who took her to hospital. The Carabinieri and Fire Brigade were also present.
“We congratulate our colleague” underlined the regional deputy secretary of Osapp Cataldo Pino “we trust that he will be given the right recognition for having prevented the woman from throwing herself into the void”.
