Ancona, Serie D goal. But it’s a race against time

Today is a crucial day, which will most likely outline what the future of football in Ancona will be: the mayor Daniele Silvetti (on the right) will in fact receive the letter from the Italian Football Federation with which he will be awarded the task of identifying the management that will make up the Ancona of the future. Translated, the mayor has in his hands the hottest potato that could have happened to him since the beginning of his mandate. From this moment, to be clear, no further postponements or extensions will be granted to those who are really interested in giving a continuation to football in the capital: then, the Municipality will proceed with the publication of the notice for potential buyers. All of this, of course, keeping an eye on the federal deadlines: the deadline for filing the application for registration in Serie D, as is now known, is July 8th, with the possibility of a possible extension to July 12th. . In short, time is running out and the more days pass, the more the fear arises among fans that the deadlines cannot be respected. Although very difficult, signing up for Serie D was Silvetti’s priority right from the start, and he worked from day one to try to guarantee a dignified future for Ancona football, despite all the difficulties involved. Should, unfortunately, the registration for the fourth series not be successful, the mayor would already have the backup plan ready, which provides for the restart at least from Excellence, a category that the Ancona public would not even want to hear mentioned, but which today seems the more realistic solution: what we want to avoid at all costs is a restart from the Third Category, never faced before in the more than one hundred year history of Ancona but which, in the current state of things, represents the only feasible scenario to allow the continuation of football in Ancona.

This is why Palazzo del Popolo is working hard to avoid this type of scenario, trying what today seems like a real undertaking: signing up for the top amateur league. Already mentioned in recent days about the interest shown by three business groups, the mayor has already had exploratory talks with each of them but, as written before, everything will have to be put in black and white following the publication of the tender. There is therefore yet another race against time to try to save what can be saved and even if the latest experiences are not successful from this point of view, it is undeniable that this time there is the maximum commitment on the part of the municipal administration, to guarantee Ancona a team that knows how to continue the football tradition in the city. On the part of the fans, forced to swallow yet another bitter pill, there is total trust in the work of the council, which has the onerous task of finding a credible interlocutor and who above all demonstrates that he is not yet another fixer who has passed through the capital , but rather a person who really cares about the fate of the team. Because this city deserves it.
