The record still stands. Untouchable since 2015: 2 hours 55 minutes and a second signed by Giovanni Gualdi, Carmine Buccilli and Hamed Nasef (Me.Pa Assicurazioni Monza). This year the trio who reached the Capanna Monza first – The running club of Luino – covered the 42 kilometers from the Arengario of Monza in 3 hours, 9 minutes and 57 seconds. Among the mixed teams, however, the victory went to the Polisportiva Moving of Lissone, with a time of 3 hours, 51 minutes and 53 seconds. The record of the women’s teams also remains untouched: the athletes of the DF Sport Specialist of Lecco closed their heroic race in 4 hours, 22 minutes and 34 seconds. Far from the time trial signed in 2011 by the Cereda Monza footwear team (3h 42′ 19”). But this year, for the centenary of the race, the Monza mountaineering society has added a second classification for the relay version: the athletes of each team divided the route into three fractions: the first covered the 15.3 kilometers from Monza to Osnago, the second the 15.7 kilometers between Osnago and Olginate, the last faced the climb up to Capanna Monza. In this special ranking, first place for the men’s Affari&Sport team from Villasanta (2h 43′ 37″), among the mixed men’s team also Affari&Sport (3h 01′ 48″), while the women’s trio from Agriturismo Monsereno from Imbersago completed the three fractions in 3 hours, 39 minutes and 33 seconds. Race over, but the party continues. Because the awards are scheduled for Friday. Which, for the “race of the century” will be in Piazza Roma, under the Arengario, the starting point of the Monza-Resegone.

It will also be an opportunity to present the special book – “Monza Resegone 100 years of racing, friendship and passion” – which tells the story and emotions experienced along the race route through its values, photographs and anecdotes. The volume, created with the support of Gioielleria Colombo, will be delivered to all the classified teams, but will still be purchasable with a minimum contribution of 10 euros: the proceeds will be used to support the research, care and assistance projects of the Maria Letizia Verga Committee against childhood leukemia. “One more reason to participate: it will be a great moment of celebration and sharing dedicated to all citizens”, the words of the president of the Monza Mountaineers Society, Enrico Dell’Orto.
