The recent discovery of the lifeless body of a 44-year-old from Pesaro last Friday, due to an alleged overdose in the woods between via Solferino and via Cimarosa, in Miralfiore, has reignited the debate on the park. We had dealt with the “dark side” of the park, the one where the tragedy occurred, in an investigation at the end of March. We had found syringes and traces of the passage of pushers and regular users. Three months later, in the aftermath of the 44-year-old’s death, nothing has changed. Mayor, on Friday a man from Pesaro died in Miralfiore park and the following day in the grove the comings and goings of pushers and drug addicts continued as usual.
What do you plan to do?
“We need to find a solution upstream. If there are drug dealers it is because there are people who buy drugs. The pushers have nothing to lose, they are often foreigners. They must be integrated into the world of work because it is necessary to recover these people who live in the illegality. For those who take drugs, however, awareness must be raised among young and old”.
What do you say to those who ask to put fixed patrols to guard the park?
“I think that locking up the Miralfiore is not the solution to the problem, but only serves to distribute drug dealers in the neighborhoods as in the seventies. Drug dealing in the areas adjacent to the train station is not just a Pesaro problem, but exists in any city And let’s not forget the severe staff shortage that affects all law enforcement agencies and the fact that when pushers are arrested they are often released from prison after a week.” So?
“I will ask for a meeting in the Prefecture with all the police forces. And I will not go alone: the councilor for security Sara Mengucci and for social affairs Luca Pandolfi will be with me.
Was it helpful to cut down the trees at Miralfiore?
