PROVINCE OF ALEXANDRIA – Friday members and friends of Lions Club Bosco Marengo Santa Croce met at the Relais Villa Pomela for the closing evening of the 2023/2024 lion year with the handover, called “passage of the bell” in lions symbolism, between the outgoing President Fabrizio Priano and the new President Orietta Bocchio. The outgoing President recalled the numerous services implemented by the Club during the year. Among the most important are the creation of two inclusive playgrounds also suitable for children and adults with disabilities, in collaboration with the Lions and Leos of Alessandria and the contribution of the Municipality of Alessandria, the Lions Club International Foundation, the Cassa di Risparmio di Alessandria Foundation and delivered to the City on Saturday. The donation, together with other clubs in the area, of a reader for the visually impaired and blind to the public library of Alessandria in the month of June, the month dedicated to Helen Keller who in 1925 invited the Lions to become Knights in the crusade against darkness.
Furthermore, during the year, food and shopping vouchers were collected for the San Francesco canteen and for the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdesorganized free medical screenings for citizens and participated in the Food Collection. Schools and children were not forgotten, with the involvement in the Poster for Peace, the presentation of the Acqua di Rugiada station, the Cleaning Agents project for the respect and conservation of monuments and the delivery of the tricolor on National Unity Day . Culture also played its role, with meetings with important writers and journalists on current issues.
“I wholeheartedly thank the members of the Bosco Marengo Santa Croce Lions Club” said Fabrizio Priano “who, having elected me as their President last year, allowed me to have a wonderful human and personal experience. A special thank you to all my board of directors who supported me and helped me conduct several important services. I wish Orietta Bocchio a great year full of successes and satisfactions and of course I will be available to her and the members to continue to give my contribution to achieving the objectives”.
The new President then presented the new board of directors as follows: Fabrizio Priano Past President, Marco Cavallera 1st Vice President, Marta Scrivanti 2nd Vice President, Andrea Ferrari Secretary, Silvana Pesce TreasurerRosella Arrigoni Master of Ceremonies, Censor Giovanni Saccardo, Alessandro Crivelli President of the Members Committee, Rosalba Marenco Director of the Communications and Marketing Committee, Davide Mendola Director of the Information Technologies Committee. The counselors are Roberta Bona, Fabio Bianchi, Alberto Rota.
During the evening the Melvin Jones Fellow progressive, one of the Lions highest honors, a Ferdinando Fiore for his active contribution to LCIF, the International Lions Foundation. TO Ugo Cavallera the recognition went “Builder Key” for having contributed to the growth of the Club by introducing 10 new members in recent years.
