Grand finale for the San Giovanni Fair, which ends on the day in which Cesena celebrates its Patron Saint. The day of June 24th, in fact, opens with religious celebrations in honor of Saint John the Baptist. In the Cathedral, at 10 am, Bishop Douglas Regattieri will preside over the solemn pontifical mass. The Schola “Santa Cecilia” directed by maestro Gianni Della Vittoria will sing the Missa “Salve Regina” for 4 voices by Valeriano Tassani. On this occasion – as has been the case for many years – one of the great Cathedral Chorales preserved in the Malatestiana Library will be exhibited. Also in the Duomo, at 9pm, maestro Gianni Della Vittoria will hold an organ concert.
Starting from the afternoon, however, solidarity will be the protagonist at the Public Gardens, which host “L’inclusion in festa”, an event organized by Anffas, Cils, Polisportiva Anffas and Cisa to celebrate the anniversaries of activity of these entities engaged for decades in a precious works at the service of disabled people and their inclusion in social life. From 5.15pm there will be free experiential workshops for children, there will be moments of entertainment by the “Blue Dragon”, while Welldone will offer a snack. A representative from the Anti-Discrimination Help Desk will also be present during the event.
From 8pm live music with “Gli altri” by Aveac and followed by “Smiusical”, staged by Polisportiva Anfass. In case of bad weather the event will be recovered on a later date. For those who want to try their hand at swing dancing, the appointment is at 7pm in the Serravalle Gardens, where the Swing Road dance school of Cesena will offer the opportunity for a free trial lesson. At 9pm, however, The Andy Macfarlane Two Man Orchestra will arrive on stage and will perform a rock’n’roll and blues repertoire.
Full of entertainment, as usual, are the Via dei Musicanti Magici (i.e. Fantaguzzi, Strinati, Righi and Albizzi streets), with performances of acrobatics and illusionism shows. At 8.30 pm, the historical procession of the Giostra di Cesena association returns, which will launch the 2024 edition of the tournament with costumed figures and an auctioneer who will declaim the announcement of the joust through the streets of the centre. From 9.00 pm the fast-paced rhythms of the Irish tradition and of the Pizzica arrive with the traveling concert organized by Progetto “Balla la Pizzica Cervia” At 9.00 pm, on the stage of the Cloister of San Francesco, “Happiness for dummies – Happiness for denied people” is scheduled , monologue by Roberto Mercadini promoted by the Diocese of Cesena Sarsina, on the occasion of the Diocesan Family Day. The picture is completed, among fragrant bunches of lavender and cheerful sugar whistles, by the lively market distributed in various areas of the historic center (over 400 stalls present) and the various refreshment points active during the Fair.
