Final day for the Italian Coop rowing championships which took place at Schiranna, on Lake Varese. The finals of the competitions reserved for the Senior category opened on Sunday 23 June, starting the awarding of the tricolours. The Italian Olympic Group was greatly absent, now about to start with the last meeting in view of the Paris 2024 Games, however there was no shortage of spectacle on the Varese waters, also given the presence in the race of many elements from the Olympic group up to a few weeks ago, and of many Under 23s who are aiming for the category tricolors (expected in three weeks) and above all towards the World Championships in St. Cathrines (Canada) at the end of August.

And it was the one who shone on the gray Sunday at Schiranna Gavirate rowers, who got four gold medals in her pocket, even if Gavirate’s first place was silver Aurora Spirit in the women’s singles. Immediately afterwards Edoardo Rocchi and Andrea Pazzagli took first place in the men’s doubles in a derby against Canottieri Varese, second with Maichol Brambilla and Luca Enea Mulas.

The Gaviratese team scores again in the doubles with Alessandro Timpanaro and Edoardo Cremaschi and immediately after with the women’s doubles of Sara Borghi and Aurora Spirito.

Riccardo Peretti goes to bronze in the men’s single, as does Monate’s boat of two with Corrado Verità, Fabio Orizio and helmsman Morgana Maroni.

And Olympic champion Federica Cesarini also wears the gold medal around her neck, winning the women’s duel under the colors of the Fiamme Oro with Kiri English-Hawke.

In Gavirate the silver of the four sculls (Andrea Pazzagli, Luigi Aloe, Edoardo Rocchi and Maximilian Riboni) and then also the flagship’s gold: Matteo Giorgetti, Davide Todeschini, Matteo Belgeri, Christian Biolcati, Francesco Pallozzi, Edoardo Caramaschi, Alessandro Timpanaro, Riccardo Peretti and the helmsman Ilaria Colombo win the last race, completing the poker.

In the two titles each for lightweights arrive for Varese and Gavirate. It was Luca and Giovanni Borgonovo from Gavirate who collected the tricolor in the men’s doubles. Monate wins a bronze in the doubles with Loris Piscia and Vilmos Benczur while in the women’s doubles the hosts of Varese Matilde Barison and Giulia Mignemi prevail. Another victory for Varese, this time in the men’s quadruple, thanks to Angelo Boleso, Alessandro Pozzi, Nicolò Demiliani and Lorenzo Ossola.

Completing the program reserved for light crews is the men’s eight which ends with an all-Varese podium: wins Gavirate of Federico Martinoia, Rodrigo Ossola, Corrado Regalbuto, Francesco Emilio Lalicata, Giovanni Borgonovo, Giacomo Matteucci, Enea Tamborini, Luca Borgonovo and Ilaria Colombo at the helm. Varese wins silver (Tommaso Mazzonetto, Giovanni Bianchi Luvisoni, Niccolò Zampieri, Emanuele Radice, Alessandro Bottinelli, Edoardo Isella, Davide Ballerio, Riccardo Spolon, tim. Niccolò Fanchi), while Monate takes the third step of the podium (Loris Piscia, Vilmos Benczur, Matteo Dianin, Andrea Mazzucchelli, Nicolò Comodo, Alessandro Corni, Nicolas Tadiello, Leonard Holzwarth, tim. Morgana Maroni).

In the pararowing finals, Stefano Brunetti of Canottieri Corgeno won a gold medal in the single PR3 II1 while in the single PR3 Andrea Bozzato from Gavirate was third. For Gavirate also comes the silver in the four with PR3 II Mix with Andrea Beghi, Francesco Maria Borsani, Matteo Brunengo, Elisabetta Tieghi, tim. Giovanna D’ambrosio and finally title for Massimo Spolon in the men’s single PR1.
