Yet another theft in Altamura. Last night, during the inaugural event of the 10th edition ofEarthbeat Festivala group of men, with their faces covered and armed with pistols and rifles, attacked the entrance guard of the festival, physically attacking a collaborator and robbing a collaborator, thus stealing part of the evening’s takings from the cash register.
The organizers of the event, shocked by the incident, expressed their dismay through the official social channels, defining this episode as the darkest moment in the ten-year history of the festival:
Earthbeat is our dream, Earthbeat is our home, but we can no longer defend it alone.
The robbery was promptly reported to the police, who started investigations to identify those responsible. Despite the timeliness of the complaint, the damage inflicted was significant, but the incident did not manage to ruin the festive atmosphere of the thousands of people who came to enjoy the moments that this event, created by young Altamurans, brings to Altamura on the nights of summer.
L’Earthbeat Festival, a cultural event of great importance for Altamura, has always stood out for its ability to unite young people by promoting values of inclusion and creativity. Tonight’s criminal act not only affects its organizers, but the entire Altamura community that it represents:
Because anyone who threatens the stability of a cultural project, to intimidate its volunteers and deprive it of the resources to survive, threatens the entire territory and its community.
