The Smile inflamed the audience of the Medimex last night on the roundabout of the Lungomare di Taranto by staging their long-awaited live tour for the first time in Italy. The British alternative rock band formed by Radiohead members Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood, accompanied by Sons Of Kemet drummer Tom Skinner, presented their new album Wall Of Eyes, released in January 2024 through XL Recordings.

Recorded between Oxford and Abbey Road Studios, it is the follow-up to his 2022 debut A Light For Attracting Attention, which received acclaim from magazines including The Guardian, Pitchfork, The Observer, The Needle Drop, Rolling Stone, New York Magazine , Uncut and Mojo. The album is produced and mixed by former collaborator Sam Petts-Davies and the string arrangements are by the London Contemporary Orchestra.

It was an engaging and full of energy concert.

‘Fucking hot’ said Thom Yorke from the stage braving the high temperatures. Between experimentation, guitar licks, distortions and overwhelming melodies.

The International Festival & Music Conference promoted by Puglia Sounds ends this evening with live performances by Pulp (only Italian date) and The Jesus and Mary Chain (only Southern Italy date). Guatemala, an indie rock band from Puglia, will open the concert.

The exhibition ‘Bob Gruen: John Lennon, The New York Years’ will continue until 14 July at the MArTA, National Archaeological Museum, which tells, through 60 photographs and texts, the photographer’s most important collaboration, that with John Lennon and Yoko Ono .
