After over 20 years, the play area of the Teodorico park, designed for children aged 3 to 12 in multiple areas, will be redeveloped. Opened in 2002 according to a project that did not take into consideration issues related to disability, today it shows wear in several games. Hence the need to redevelop the area by replacing equipment that is no longer adequate and inserting others that also allow use by children with motor, sensory or cognitive disabilities. The Region has awarded the Municipality 154,554 euros to implement the inclusion project which involves the insertion of eight play equipment and the creation of cast rubber safety foundations that allow easy access for everyone. Among the play structures provided there is a multiple revolving swing; a climbing structure with different degrees of difficulty, also useful for hearing, visual and cognitive disabilities with adult supervision.
A trampoline appears to strengthen muscle strength and balance, also suitable for children in wheelchairs; a multifunctional themed game with multi-height towers, wide slide, sound panel and porthole, telescope and porthole, ladder with facilitated access. The panels help the development of psychomotor skills, improving independence and confidence in one’s motor activities. A mobile with wide seats stimulates creativity and imagination, develops social skills and the sharing of emotions and experiences. The small house village with roof, windows, movable panels and portholes and entrance tunnel facilitates the integration of children with motor difficulties, stimulates role-playing games and promotes group play. In addition to the traditional swing, there are also basket equipment that allow children with disabilities to participate in play activities with peers and other seat with safety lock. The play structures are equipped with colored anti-trauma flooring to protect young users.
