Tuscany on the ballot, 18 municipalities are voting – News

There are 18 Tuscan municipalities voting on 23 and 24 June for the balsi vote to elect mayor or mayor in the runoff. In alphabetical order they are Agliana, Borgo San Lorenzo, Calenzano, Cecina, Colle Val d’Elsa, Collesalvetti, Cortona, Empoli, Figline Incisa, Florence, Montecatini Terme, Piombino, Poggibonsi, Ponsacco, Pontedera, Rosignano Marittimo, San Miniato, Signa.
The main challenge is that of Florence: the challenge is between Sara Funaro (centre-left) and Eike Schmidt (centre-right). In the first round Funaro obtained 43.17% of the votes, Schmidt 32.86%.
In Empoli the clash is entirely on the left between Alessio Mantellassi, supported by the Democratic Party (49.57% in the first round) and Leonardo Masi, candidate of the Left and the M5s (19.27%). In Piombino the outgoing centre-right mayor Francesco Ferrari (49.22% in the first round) will face his predecessor Gianni Anselmi (35.55%). In Montecatini Terme the run-off sees Luca Baroncini from the centre-right (33.68% in the first round) and Claudio Del Rosso, who is running for the Pd, M5s, Azione and a civic list (27.23%). In Pontedera, Matteo Bagnoli (centre-right, 37.93 in the first round) and Matteo Franconi (Pd, 49.3% in the first round) will go to the ballot.
As for the other Municipalities, in Agliana it is a challenge between Luca Benesperi (centre-right) and Guido Del Fante (Pd and Action), in Borgo San Lorenzo between Cristina Becchi (centre-left) and Leonardo Romagnoli (M5s, Progressive Democrats, Borgo in Comune). In Calenzano there will be a run-off between Maria Arena (Pd) and Giuseppe Carovani (supported for example by Sinistra per Calenzano), in Cecina between Lia Burgalassi (centre-left) and Salvatore Giangrande (centre-right), in Colle Val d’Elsa the civic citizen Piero Pii and Riccardo Vannetti (centre-left), in Collesalvetti duel between Carlo Fredianelli of the centre-right and Sara Paoli of the centre-left. In Cortona the challenge is between Luciano Meoni (Futuro civic list for Cortona and centre-right Meoni mayor) and Andrea Vignini (Pd, Cortona Civica, M5s), in Figline Incisa the mayor will be Valerio Pianigiani (centre-left) or Silvio Pittori (centre-right). In Poggibonsi there will be a female run-off with Susanna Cenni (centre-left) challenging Angela Picardi (centre-right) while in Ponsacco the mayor will be Gabriele Gasperini (centre-right) or Fabrizio Lupi (Pd). In Rosignano Marittimo Daniele Donati of the Democratic Party (plus civic lists) challenges Claudio Marabotti, candidate of Rosignano nel Cuore and M5s. In San Miniato the match is between Michele Altini (centre-right) and Simone Giglioli (centre-left), in Signa the challenge is between Monia Catalano (civic supported by the centre-right) and Giampiero Fossi (centre-left).

For the run-off the polling stations are open on Sunday from 7am to 11pm and on Monday from 7am to 3pm, with counting starting immediately after the close of voting.
In the first round of the municipal elections, when voting was also held for the European elections, the polls were open from 3pm to 11pm on Saturday 8 June and from 7am to 11pm on 9 June.
